Don't think the rather dull Gold price helps at the moment

Well was about to say GettingBy has a valid point based solely on the chart, but that it could change with some fundamental news via an RNS. Sadly the sale of shares by a Director wasn't the sort of RNS I was hoping for

Do you expect a rise when the divi is announced? I've heard this put forward before and can't see the logic. Company assets aren't increased by such an announcement, the only reason for a such a rise would be the effect of the force of buying from new shareholders attracted by it - though, while I can see someone attracted by the prospect of regular dividends, I can't see the attraction of a one off divi except for a very technical tax management issue.
The SP has already declined by more than the amount of the likely dividend. I sold some at over 6p, foolishly (as it turns out) bought back at over 5p, also a few more at 4 1/2p which I sold at 4.7p last week. I don't know what I feel now to be honest! I wouldn't be surprised to see 4p.
There could be a few years of little to stimulate the SP. Without a significant rise in POG I cant see over 6p returning anytime soon. But, of course, I am wrong so often that it could give you hope!

I have no axe axe to grind, but all I keep reading is moans that the markets rigged, AIM is a casino, market makers are manipulating this share. Now the FCA is useless apparently. How about having a go at the Police because there is crime still on the streets and the NHS because there have been over 100,000 Covid deaths? So Bushveld isn't going up as fast as collectively you have decided it should. if you don't like it, you think its not a level playing and corruption abounds then sell your shares and get a safe 1% (or less) in the Nationwide.

faramog that is a wild accusation. Having worked in finance my whole life I know several people who have gone to senior roles in the FCA, Tax Accountants, Actuaries and Financial Accountants, all with brilliant minds.

Neither does nor doesn't antharry, Jan 18 is ancient history for this share, so much has happened since both to the company and the market it is hoping to serve. My observation is relevant to the constant drip downwards since the placing. In my view we have to look like we have reached the bottom before confidence returns and investors stop sitting on their hands on the sidelines. The danger I perceive is a dip beneath the placing price which could cause a few bailouts as confidence evaporates.

There is a common theme on several boards that when a share price goes down it is market manipulation by corrupt market makers conspiring to manipulate the share price for various nefarious reasons. No its not, it s the market. Why not the same cries when the shares go up? Then its because its a fantastic share as posters pat themselves on the back for making an inspired choice - not that the MMs are manipulating in the other direction. Weird that.

Quiet board, but then again that's quite a good thing. Makes a change from shouty boards helping propel tiny start-ups to unfeasibly large MCs.
Gentle drift upwards here, justifiable as in green industries and against a SP almost double a year ago. Does anyone know of obvious downsides, such a pension fund in the red which is often a problem with long established industry?

I think you are wondering about take overs. With an option to increase their stake in BCN to 29.9% (they are almost certainly at 28.8% already) and more importantly wanting the Lithium product, I cant see Ganfeng allowing an external bid. They are in the driving seat here. I suppose the only scenario possibly is if that there is a bid and Ganfeng is forced to take out BCN itself. Certainly don't see a third party standing a chance.

The only immediate competitor is hydrogen. Its being taken very seriously by some, hence the explosion of interest (no pun on the Hindenburg intended) in fuel cell companies. Hydrogen is intended to be generated using renewables, but to supply a transport system that's a lot of windmills! The obvious advantage of Hydrogen being that it avoids reluctance by consumers since it can be refuelled like an ICE car. Pure electric cars have traction at the moment but some major manufacturers (Toyota? Honda?) have models out there. Plus some hydrogen fuelled public transport in London is being trialled.
I understand that hydrogen cars are still essentially electric cars, but the lithium battery pack acts only as a storage buffer so is obviously smaller than a pure EV, but its still a win win really

Largely agree Jim, though I just don't think we should second guess the motives of a new poster, with no track record, because they have made an arguably contrary but nevertheless relevant single post. New posters should be encouraged, even though as we all know there are a few ******s about!

I get your point about due diligence, done while taking Ganfengs interest (direct and indirect) to near 65%. Also like the point about battery tech but by the same token I think it would be naïve to think Lithium will be unchallenged as the battery of choice within quite a short time frame. SLL needs to get the stuff out of the ground in large quantities in as quickly as possible. Does anyone think Sonora will be mined to exhaustion, because I don't.

Just been googling it 'r', there is logically going to be organised crime towards the US border because of drug and people smuggling, but nowhere mentioned Sonora as particularly problematic. It worth consideration as some of the cartels are better equipped than the army if you believe the stories. But I agree, there is lots of mining in Mexico so not one of the biggest worries - I just want the sodding mine built by 2023!

Hi Jim, bit harsh there, I don't think the earlier poster was suggesting the stuff would be nicked - even if someone got their mitts on it who would they fence it too? Can't really go down the pub looking shifty and ask if someone wants some hooky lithium! Mexico is a dangerous country away from the all inclusive holiday resorts, so I admit that I too wondered about the possible business interruption, scams, protection, threats to the security of the workforce etc. that could be attempted. However were BCN refining Gold with a by product of silver rather than lithium with a sideline in fertiliser then I would be more worried.
