Time2kill, you're spot on. This is a rather unloved share but I remember when I held esure, they were identical, the SP would run in cycles.

Normally the SP would now fall until the next dividend but, with the buy back, it's not a definite this time around.

If it does fall to the 2.70s/2.80s, I'd have to question the whole buy back initiative.

Either way, if it holds around 3 or falls a little lower, it's a great share that pays a great dividend. Like Parity10, I'll reinvest my dividend payment.

Well one of the newspaper headlines today looks like it was almost written by a certain airline company.

"EASYJAB". I think it's trying to hail the one dose Janssen jab as a game changer. I could only see the front page so can't comment any more.

I've just inherited some Carnival shares from my recently departed mum (god bless her, RiP mum). Not enough to retire on but enough to keep as a long term bet.

I think, long term, if they can start to generate some income in the near future, the SP could double from here.....but that's just my opinion and I'm expecting it to take at least a couple of years.

Being vaccinated doesn't stop you from catching covid or from passing it on......personally I think covid is with us for ever, and we'll all need an annual booster (which is not a problem). My wife's surgery vaccinated over 2500 patients in just 3 days last year (annual flu jab).

Unfortunately though, very near future, we need European countries to up their game. Their tardiness will hold back any UK progress on the travel/holiday front.

Apologies, my mistake, dividend up by 2.1%, not 2.8%.

Well a 4.5% drop in annual profit, at least a small increase (2.8%) in the final dividend, 14.7p per share and a smaller share buyback, of £100m, than I was expecting.

TBH, I'm always wrong on how the markets react to these final year results. Hopefully the buy back might support the share price.

This share tends to run in cycles with an expected SP rise just before quarterly reports. I've no idea why it rose and fell recently, may well have had something to do with the takeover rumours.

What you will find is that, rather oddly, sometimes the SP will start to drop before it goes ex dividend, clearly some buyers can make a better profit from the SP rise than they can on the dividend (at least that's how I see it).

Personally, I think we've now started the slow SP rise period, before final year's reports are released early March.

Cheers SUFC555, my mistake. I misinterpreted the SD paid in Aug 20, thinking it was a SD from Apr 20.

Thanks for the Q3 2019 point, I clearly had taken my eye off the ball. Considering the SP tends to run in cycles, be interesting to see what a buy back has on the long term SP.

Have I taken my eye off the ball here? I can't find any RNS that says any potential Special Dividend (SD) will be replaced by a Share Buy Back.

Let's not forget, last April, DLG were going to pay a SD AND run a share buy back policy. Additionally, DLG paid a SD last September, in the midst of the pandemic, so why should it cause such consternation now?

If someone could please point me in the direction of the RNS that confirms that any potential SD will be replaced by a share buy back, I'd be much appreciative.

I appreciate not everyone has my view, but I do hope that the SP is creeping up on the expectation of a nice fat divi....and not on a possible takeover.

I'll be gutted if DLG is taken over. If it happens, this will be my third Insurance firm I've held shares in that have been bought out. Yeah you get a tasty increase in the SP but give me the long term return of dividends and money made by trading this share any day of the week.

I've reinvested every dividend and, whilst I'm not yet on a free ride with DLG, my average is pretty good.

Cheers, but just checked the actual completion price. It ended up at 260.5. Still very happy with that price.

Just topped up at 2.59. Held a little back in case there's an afternoon drop.

Dragged down again by the afternoon US markets coming on line.

Still, not that long till the November update.....
