It is sentiment. I bought Ashtead several years ago at 400p they lost over 30% and I sold them when they had recovered a bit. Today they are circa £18.

Similarly in 98 SAP were 66, in the millennium panic they dropped 82% to 12 now they are at 92. There is more to it than what the product does you have to think about the value it creates for the purchaser and what is that worth to them. Some tech stocks are nonsense like Facebook as they are basically a fashion, I make no predictions but you know what happened to Friends Reunited.

Hello Irene stocks do not go up in a straight line. The alternative explanation is that tech stops are taking a bashing which affects the good, the bad and the ugly.
