Well we're back to pre bid awaiting the inevitable knock back as the no hopers scramble about looking for some cash. I mean why tf did they not have the finance ready? He'll you'd entrust your cash to that lot! Complete waste of time as the only reason short term in holding Sportech paper is a) the vat case & b) an outside chance WH or someone else may trump CG? Other than that it's a weak hold at best unless one of the former falls into place or Penrose buggers off with his overflowing pension pot to keep him warm this winter! Then.......? A whole new " ball game"!

Acres of newsprint this morning on Bettypower poss tie up which may force WH into action to spoil the party? We'll see on that one but here's my point not one mention of Sportech in all the hubbub! Pretty much okish, we don't get startling from Spo. Racing & D slightly up on Betfred works the Pools and Venues both a tad lower. No new news on CG. The vat case confirmed for Nov 3. Expect shares to track lower today.

Upping bid for BWIN to £1.1bn! They must want it bad? Does it compute Bruce? That's SADS mrkt cap territory.

Morning Bruce had a look at BAH wow very impressive but 3.5m outstanding and €83! Mind you with GP of $100m not surprising! Lovely graph to boot! I'd be in if I had any spare!

Can't Bastard cannot see the attraction of giving up 50% to in effect swell the coffers of CG? I agree as a dividend it would be nice but taxable! No if we win and it's a 50/50 I'd rather 100% with the poss of a special div next year. Anyways the vat should not enter the investment case. CG will no doubt explain the rational behind this opportunistic bid but on the bare facts I cannot see what they bring to the party? (Our profits from the Pools business is worth more than all of CG).We didn't want to buy them...did we? Maybe Penrose will add flesh to the bare statement from CG on Thrsday morning? Despite all the flurry of shareholders declarations yesterday the market remained unimpressed and i expect to see the sp back to its comfort zone of 63-5p.

H/Y 2014.....(sp 80) Rev £52.6m....ebita £12.0m...pre tax £6.3m But the important bit the Pools division produced...Rev £19.3m/ebita £8.2m/GP 42% Margins of venues 12% & Racing & Digital 22% brought up the rear.

No short positions are currently held in Spo (as of yesterday). The sp fall was entirely predictable, the silly mix of cash & shares won't appeal to UK holders. I hope this won't become a distraction to management unsolicited though it was! I very much doubt CG are serious....best run along like good little boys, go find someone your own size to play with.

A mull over w/e........ cannot see CG pulling this off. Best retire gracefully and leave us to someone with clout. Thought WH at first...... but think they might be mired in the same sort of management malaise as Sads?

Very strange only 400k traded on Friday albeit a late announcement most likely caused that. Little in Sat press ,barely a mention in the useless FT and zero comment on poss valuations. Sundays may flesh out what price CG have proposed to the bod or indicative one and the likelihood of their bid succeeding? HG who have been aggressively buying SPO now near 30% won't let SPO go for under 100p imo and should a bidding war break out, well who knows? Ways to go on this one as US gaming companies (Wynn) have run the nos on SPO I'm sure. I'm sure when the offer arrives Penrose will say it materially undervalues SPO (they all do). Can't fault P for steering SPO westwards these last few years....can he now secure the best deal for shareholders? August 20 interims should be one of the best if you have been a keen follower since Rodime days!

Mooted response from mrkt as bidders credentials may not stack up? For why make an offer without a) a price b) the cash in place? Seems very speculative imo and may flush out another bidder?The play is for a rival to swoooooop now with a cash offer and I knock these Johnnies come lately back to where they come from! I see little prospect of the Canucks succeeding.
