As it is, it seems to be just me waffling away..... more posters are required to share their views on Spo or (other stocks) When I started I hoped we would have a hard core of at least 10 regulars! As you know we're way short of that. Perhaps most pis have deserted Spo and it's just li'l o'l me left? That's a shame for quite a well known company with it's long football history and charitable causes. I visited a palm oil stock that has had zero poster interest from investors, not a prerequisite I grant you but sometimes lack of pis envolvement tells a story?I hope you throw in your twopence worth, even if it is to tell me to belt up! When a board cannot make a decision after 8 wks going on 12 they don't deserve to be in the job! Mind you the puppy dog iis are no better, as if they give a toss! What a bunch of losers!!

Less than 4 weeks away the Tribunal will deliver their verdict. As a reminder here is what Mr Justice Pool ruled last time. He said "The most skill and judgement can do is to estimate the approximate position to place the X. Not seen the rns but it may have been they crossed a threshold that necessitated an rns? Or Spo requested to know the beneficial owner of the shares? Sorry I can't be of more help. Perhaps bags1 can help? Only 24 hours left before "put up or shut up" for CG. Spo may reject the offer out of hand so we will never know why we have been messed about like this? Of more interest will be the decision coming up in Nov, so far it's 1-1 will we win the penalty shoot out? I have gone from a) of course we will it's a no brainer! to b) No chance (too many vested interests and knock ons) and c) Ain't got a clue! If you twist my arm I'll go with (b) as I don't believe they will reverse the UT last decision only in the belief that dark forces trump common sense. That most surely guarantees I'm wrong!

You make a good point bags re the Americans being protective of their home markets. I remember the scrutiny Spo was put under during the SG take over! No stone was left unturned. A point in our favour is that I'm sure we're more of an American Co now than a British one at least that's how I see us sand that can only be good. We need to make the full transition and become US based whether independently or via being taken over/merged with a US player. We have many assets and attractive tie-ups that will improve over the years ahead. I don't think this rev t/o by CG is the way forward atm. They (CG) got off on the wrong foot and I think they'll be shuffling off shortly.

Morning bags1. The California license is a mystery? Whether it came up for renewal and was subsequently not renewed I'm not sure. It may have been we lost the contract to a better bidder? Either way it was a blow, California is an 'economy' on its own! I have been critical of Penrose in the past but can't fault the Scientific Games acquisition as we're now rivalling some of the US gaming cos especially in our broad spread of interests. Where we are failing is the assets are not being sweated enough, our turnover is moribund and has been for years and without the Pools we'd be dead in the water! When did you last see an ad on TV about the Pools? What's happened to the millions of lottery players no longer playing? Shouldn't we have made more of an effort by tv, paper advertising etc...to attract back those lost punters, especially now it's £2 a ticket? I won't mention Bet Direct! Oh well let's see what (Oct 13?) brings we may be in for a surprise?
