A tale of two markets, UK stocks had their best Q2 in more than 5 years (+8%) with the £ (1.3207) climbing yesterday on a stronger than expected economic growth nos...(0.2%) v (0.1%) but still slid c.6% over the Q. At the Half time whistle the All share is hardly changed, the ftse (-0.7%) the 250 (+0.5%) & All Aim (+2%). In N.Y after an impressive rally in the morning up 220+ the afternoon crowd sold heavily into the gains more on a bit of window dressing and squaring of the books at Q end and the H/Y. Ytd nos (rounded up)--- S&P +2% --- DJ -2% --- NSD +9% --- R2000 +7%. The late afternoon 'wobble' on the Dow has the futures slightly up for a Monday opening.....so far. On home ground G had a stellar Q1 gain (+55%) and repeated the feat with a more impressive Q2 gain of (61%) v the 350OG (+8%). Those nos are unlikely to be repeated in Q3 for that to be the case the sp would be knocking 430 and thats an outside chance but heh who predicted the humungus gains this year? Im more than happy with G's progress since present management took over one just has to factor into one's expectations that 'oil stuff' takes forever. Other ytd nos that may be of interest....Gold $1252 (-4%) Oil $79.42 (+25%) Bcon $6400 (-54%) & Palm (-18%).

I'd like to start by saying i don't really deserve this award but heh i didn't deserve arthritis either..... so thank you guys 'n gals this will be short and to the point. Well not if your sitting on £200k of losses as one poor fellow is. Asides i'm a G man & not of Gkp persuasion as others are Gkp men exclusively. Each Co has its fan club. You may not remember back in the day you were either a Stones man or a Beatles one....not both. I sure wouldn't be holding both as I read some G men do.

Mfocus down nearly 4% ytrd and damn nearly 50% on the year! Not much evidence of holders spitting blood om Mfocus bb. Boy i would be!....maybe they are all over here? Nsdq added 59 overnight but the big techs in the Far East region are souring sentiment following the 'nut jobs' comments on China investments in US companies. Sage off 10.... on trend for the day. This week closes H1 so given world events, Brexit etc..Idea have performed creditably with more to come in H2 as long as you know who can keep his trap shut for 5 mins.

I hope not. Their shares have performed abysmally, once over 500 to current 52. Nav is c.160p So might be a sitting duck. G is not in the take over game we have enough problems in monetizing our assets without becoming involved in Thailand, Indonesia, West Africa & downtown Mogadishu. That would stretch our management when we need focus on gas and new drills. Pretty sure the mrkt would not think Ophir a good fit. This aint the time. We have recovered from a basket case share price and huge write downs so nothing must divert managements attention from increasing shareholders returns or interrupt our forward progress. Any move of this type could seriously damage all the hard work put in these last 2 years or since present management took over. This goes for Gkp talk to boot. Now if Ophir wanna pay us 800 a share....then I might be interested....heh heh heh!

The 250 was the main casualty yesterday falling 160 the ftse down just 6 in a quiet session with little co specific news outside of Greene Kings lower profits knocking the stock 9% & Mfocus slipping c.4% and a shocking 50% slump ytd. The mrkt continues to fixate on what Trumpsy will do next, on trade and pretty much most else which aint good for investment decision making! N.Y. ended positively all major indices rallying though the Dow remains below its 200 DMA and the S&P financials drew back from a 13 day losing run. Trade policy dominates mrkts atm with concerns over US protectionist policies damaging sentiment. A poll of fund managers has seen a large drop in nos that think the US economy will be stronger next year as Q1 growth has been revised down to 2% from 2.25%. Oil is flat at $77.62 and Asian mrkts are mixed (2up/1down) with Shanghai (+30) avoiding a 5th straight losing session. Tech stocks are souring sentiment in Japan & the region as the Nikkei struggles to hit positive nos for the year, still 2.5% down ytd. HK & Shanghai both posting red year tds. London seen 40 better at kick off. Morning all.
