Poor day for London shares on more Chump-tweeting on tariffs threatening to tax everything in sight. Techs off c.1%, Sage down 16, Idea off 3 but Mfocus put on 20. The Nsdq saw dip buyers return pushing up stocks from a 7444 low closing at 7568. Ftse to open flat/down and see little to get excited about while the background is so murky. A bit of masterly inactivity is warranted.

In the papers Tesla finally achieves its 5000 production target....Chump tweeting on his oil deal with the Saudis...who seem to be unaware of it....Nike added c.12% on terrific results....CO2 still causing problems in the drinks industry but supply problems are expected to ease next 2 weeks....Tata steel merging with Krupp....Canada announces tariffs on US imports....BMW employs 100k in the US and has warned jobs are at risk....Sbry trading update on Wed....£$1.317....Retail cont to suffer over 7000k jobs lost and a further 15k are at risk as shoppers change their habits....Only 17% of retail is on line atm but increasing rapidly as business rates, falling footfall & less cash make competing with the on-liners impossible....Morning all.

Look I'm no tennis expert but I've seen pretty much every Wim since Maria Bueno won the Ladies in the 60's, up to and including Navratilova no girl has impressed me as much as Aryna. Mind you i said that about Osaka and where is she now? Sabalenka belongs to the hit the hell out of it and keep on doing so on the 'come what may' school of tennis. Theresa Maybe needs to 'man up' and soon as there are only 6 weeks left of talks before final summit in Oct. If the supply teacher knows what shes doing she aint told us. Right now Europe looks weak and divided especially on the migration issue and time is running out for them as well. The 'no deal is better than a bad deal' is a common sense approach I think, if talks hit the wire. I doubt the Tories have planned or prepared for this eventuality. The Gov need to get on the front foot and lay out our ( the leavers) demands.....controlled immigration, return of sovereignty, out of the single market etc...for too long the unelected from the EU have been bossing us about despite the PMs backsliding on issues such as citizenship and defence. If the worst comes we should walk and go down the Singapore route as a free trade power before she signs the death warrant of the Tory party and enfeebling this country for years to come! We fought the Kaiser, Hitler, Napoleon the Soviets and overcame them all. Are we now consigning ourselves to a vassal state of the protectionist EU without influence unable to go our free way with the rest of the world? Did you vote for that?

Ball park figs for setting up an on shore well are c.$20m thats the basic infrastructure. You then need to add roads, water & electricity etc... and thats for a small one not designed to go great distances. Shale ready rigs typically cost $5m more than the small footprint rigs. A rig that needs to frack greater distances or go much lower might cost as much as $40-50m and vary from country to country. For off shore drilling look at $200m for starters and can reach $1bn of which 90% will be the capital investment cost after seismic studies etc...have been completed and the proven and probable are confirmed. Outside of the environmental concerns/costs fracking can be cash flow positive at c$60pb and just about survive at $25 oil break even...thats the generally accepted figure.You can of course rent a drilling rig and this will set you back c.$200.000 per day at the top end plus rig workers don't come cheap, pay is around $100.000 per annum. Should you be lucky enough to find oil& gas, royalties kick in. For instance on say 50bpd at $60 oil your cash flow would be $3000 per day and the royalty owner would receive c.15% (could vary) of this ($450) pd. Ramp up production and it becomes a very profitable business even for a mom and pop rig producing a few barrels p/d --check out those back of the garden rigs in Texas! Morning all.
