Bloody Europe eh? The bane of Tory Prime Ministers from Thatcher, Major, Cameron and now May all severely damaged by the land across the Channel. Played 4 lost 4. Just a year or so ago all looked rosy for Cameron, his offer of a referendum looked a shoe-in a 1/10 shot that the UK would overwhelmingly vote remain. Didn't happen. DC was last seen scurrying across HG parade looking for a lift home. Strike 1. May was left holding the baby but the keys to No 10 were firmly in her pocket. She was in a strong position. Labour under Corbin was in disarray providing no opposition at all. The Tories were 1/10 to win the election by 50-100 seats giving May a strong mandate to tackle Europe. Didn't happen. The roof fell in. Strike 2. A weak Govt with a remainer- at- heart- PM was never going to be a match for the unelected bureaucrats of Brussels. So here we are with May trying to sell the 'only deal' to a divided party (only 7/52 supported her in the Commons yesterday), opposition & country. Not going to happen. Strike 3. It may have been a dogs brexit of a deal but poor Mrs May has had little luck. What luck she had she failed to use to her advantage by a lacklustre election performance and a half hearted effort in enforcing the Brexit vote, has possibly fatally holed her premiership. Diddy Davis & Raab will attest to that and by Jove, Bojo's mate (heh heh heh) looks on his way out. The forces against her are too many, fighting a rearguard action too late (pointless press conference last night) and with zero chance of her deal being rubber stamped by Parliament she just Struck 4 and out.

Remember the disgraceful events of the 'expenses' scandal? Thousands of pounds of tax payers money used fraudulently by many MPs for their own benefit. Not many collars felt on that occasion. You and me would have been banged up for doing 31 in a 30 limit.

Boyo....Can't say I've ever voted Labour, no make that a definite, I blame my blinkered upbringing...heh heh heh...it's easier to do that. However there were some outstanding Labour politicians in my time, I refer to Barbara Castle, Shirley Williams, Jenkins & Reid to name a few....the match I might add of any Tory politicians. Trouble was they wore the wrong colour. I admire you being able to switch allegiance based on the promises etc..made, that was never an option for me, it would be akin to backing Eng v Wales!!...Nah, never! As for Plaid I sympathise with them and if I was living in Wales I'd certainly back them. They have an outstanding leader in Leanne Wood.....pity she aint blue! Apologies to the G men to whom Welsh politics is like buying UKOG.

Sadly I have to agree boyo and I'm a true blue....what the hell others will have to bear the cross while Dave swans around buying pinkies in the White Hart, Witney.

Sure not a fixed top value obviously. As Mrkt Cap a component of any EV calc changes min by min. However you look at it its only worth what a bidder is prepared to pay, that might be above/well above the EV which is only the starting point. I'd like to see a bid tabled but so far that's a forlorn hope.

May will address the Parliamentaries today where we're led to believe the deal will be voted down. A six of one & seven of the other suiting neither the remainers or leavers could lead to a vote of no confidence in the PM (letters being posted). Incidentally 3/1 she's pensioned off by March '19. Not a bad bet should the DUP vote against. Too late for the mrkts to pass judgement, businesses might just ok the deal as long as there is no disruption to the supply chain but there are many questions still to be answered. Shares marked time edging lower, 100 off 20 the 250 down 76 & sterling little moved on inflation data at 2.4%. Look for a lower opening. US mrkts fell again the Dow (-206) for the 4th straight (25080) and that's 1111 points, the 500 down 21 & techs off 64. Apple cont to fall away now just a $ away from bear territory (20% decline from recent top) and extending losses for the 5th session. Cisco's nos were well rec'd adding 5% after hours and Tesla added $5 ($344) extending its $90 run up this last month. Mixed in Asia (2up/2down) losses limited to c.0.55%. The Nikkei down 115 near the close on lower tech & financials, Panasonic down at a 3 yr low and Softbank fell 4% on persistent selling. HK is up 106 on back of Tencents earnings jump and SH is up near 1% on talk of Govt action to boost the economy. The nos: Oil $66.00. Gold $1211. £$ 1.300. £€ 1.147. Coin $5520. Vix 21. MSCI 484. Not on the Dow it aint...a 200 point advance has been wiped out on Apple weakness taking the 100 down 25 nearing close. Crazy mrkts stay well away...coin flips, roulette wheels, 3 card Monte, find the lady, snakes & ladders all provide better outcomes than the shark invested waters of the lse (losers exchange). At least I know who shafted me....do you?

Teacher has the Iron Maiden out....twisting arms (won't take much I can tell you) at No 10 and should there be any resignations today I'll buy back into G.....that's a very safe bet.

G worth tops $800m (220p) plus a small premium atm. Don't get flights of fancy 500 pps...it ain't gonna happen. Check the macro not the micro.
