Tokyo (+308) set the tone for a positive start in Asia this morning. Stocks were lifted by Wall St record closes on Fri, optimism on US Co earnings & the economic recovery. The one black spot was Japan's largest Brokerage Nomura which slumped 15% on news of a potential $2bn loss at a US subsidiary.

Its not clear whether its related to the Archegos fire sale of $ billions of stocks on Friday after margin calls from Brokers and Banks. Archegos a private investment firm had large exposure to ViacomCBS and several Chinese technology firms which were offered at hugely reduced prices. Its estimated brokers sold $33bn worth of stock of those companies involved on Friday.

The Dow and 500 closed at record highs on back of jobless claims at their lowest since the pandemic (684,000).
Vaccinations are being ramped up with a new gaol of 200m jabs in the first 100 days. Crude futures rose 4% as efforts cont to dislodge the huge vessel blocking the Suez Canal. Its expected to take another week to free the vessel.

I suppose we should be thankful the sp didn't go sub 10 or worse today. Volume was 558,149 and without checking every trade bofp calcs had buys outpacing sells by 1•3:1 and that inc a 131,642 sell at 11•17p.
Its not been a good Q1 for PAT
down 63%, (42% of that in March) so at the H/Y with more drill newsflow we could start to get back on an upward path save any 'nasties'. Gold has been a poor performer down 9% ytd and posting its first weekly decline in 3 weeks, a stronger USD hasn't helped.
Gold settled at $1732 for April delivery.

Cpo ended the session up $18 at $1130 and $12 on the week. The ytd average which ends Q1 is c.$1033 (c.$707). The KLPI added 18 on the week but is down 3% ytd against cpo up 15%.
London palms were little moved on the week except Mpe which gained 70 thanks to a 52 jump today on stake building by KLK. Rea was flat on 259,200 traded, buys outpacing sells by 1•3:1. Q1 closing share prices as below.

A bit of a damp squib response so far. Less trades than yesterday at 10:00 am. But good news never trades as much as bad.....heh ho.

Fair comment VF. I need to step back but I have too much free time on my hands atm....if I had a portfolio of 20 stocks I wouldn't spend so much time here! Anyways the Bolton's RNS not that I understood all the tech jargon sounds good, so let's hope we see a bounce today.

No doubt quite a few other outsiders hold below the 3% declaration level, so could possibly take the total of strong holds to 50%. That leaves a pretty decent free float of 45m outstanding. For sure I would like to see the Board with considerably more at stake but then they know more than you and me...

Morning valuefinder I was simply saying the potential drop of the sp could go to zero, mathematically thats correct, not that I thought it actually would....As to the India business I certainly don't fret over the license situation and if you read my post of undone and overdone I said no way did I think a mrkt cap of £10m represented the asset value of PATs projects in fact i think i said they were undervalued but wtfdik?

I certainly like your enthusiasm and a 5 bagger from here would be great by year end. All things are possible and I shall add if the stock continues South.

Star786 I'm not sure your choice of daaawg to represent PAT is the right one, for the Daschund breed are known as clever, stubborn and bred for perseverance all the attributes we need here, heh,heh,heh!

Morning all.

One of the surest ways to tank a share is to continue to talk it down. Investors in PAT have become very jittery even before the India news the sp was running out of steam.

The sharp rise from 5 to 33 in hindsight looked overdone and was ripe for profit taking, that the bad news from India coincided with profit takers and shorters climbing aboard was unlucky to say the least and the shares had nowhere to go but down.
Noone knows where the fall will end, it could go sub 10 or bounce off 10. Unless the mrkt has wind of some 'nasties' yet to be disclosed the fall looks positively discriminatory given Allenby's 28p valuation.
A mrkt value of £10m might be on the money for now but I sure wouldn't rely on it representing the Mali or Burkina Faso assets which are said to hold the second largest worlds gold resource base after the Witwatersrand, not to mention our 2 prospective projects in Nigeria an untapped frontier for future gold exploration.

One must mention the political and security situation especially Islamic terrorism which could hold up and add costs to production. The current acting President of Mali has suggested that constitutional changes could be pending which might impact royalties and ownership in the gold mining sector. However these two regions depend hugely on Gold which represents c.20% of GDP and c.70% of total exports. Keeping the likes of Barrick a huge provider to the coffers of the Mali Govt and the 20 odd tiddler miners on side is crucial for the well being of the low income economy of the peoples of BF & Mali. Dealing with Govts in commodity hot spots be it oil in Iraq or Kurdistan and gold in W.Africa is a fact of life. I'm staying put. Thank you and good night.
