Very much the cost of doing business in foreign climes. A number of o...lies in Kurdistan didn't get paid for 2 years and are still owed considerable sums of money. All these volatile regions with unstable Governments pose problems for foreign companies. Of course if you are RDS, BP or Chevron your sheer size insulates you to some extent.

For instance in Indonesia a country with a stable political set up taxes the hell out of foreign plantation companies by as much as 40% currently. Given they are hugely labour intensive turning a coin is difficult. I'm not sure how much labour is used in Gold Mining operations but pretty sure its a lot less and covid-19 so far has not rampaged through West Africa. Senegal has reported just 40,433 cases and 1,100 fatalities /17•1m population, Burkina Faso 13,319 cases and 48 deaths on 21•4m pop.

Perhaps its a bit early to worry about taxes as PAT is likely to farm out production down the road if drill results are proven in commercial quantities. At that stage I guess the Co will be more than happy to pay up on any earnings.

And finally since my first purchase of REA at 133 (19/8/2018) highest paid 159 lowest paid 49 the share price headed South. I started noting other London palm prices for comparisons sake (wish I hadn't). Here's the result.

A holder of REA has had a torrid time in sp non appreciation but you may take comfort in the latest (2021) shareholder funds of $245•8m (£177•9) or 405 pps. On the other side of the coin debts amount to $189m (£136•8m) or 346 pps. Not a great deal of wiggle room without strengthening the balance sheet.

Cant say its been much fun, losing money usually isn't but when I assessed REA I had a 25% chance of picking a winner. Unfortunately I picked the wrong one. I'd have had a better chance (c.33%) of backing the favourite in a horse race and coming out in front. I have filled my contractual obligations here, heh,heh,heh and if your still holding REA paper all the best.

Barrick Gold is in dispute with the Senegalese Govt over a tax claim which has been referred to the ICC for arbitration after numerous attempts to resolve the issue failed. Heard this kinda stuff before ain't we?

Morning all.

A late spurt of buys today (64,552) v 10,693 sells made the ratios more palatable on the week at 2•6:1 in favour of sells, shares slipped 1 to 13•5.
Tbh didn't expect any significant news ahead of the Bank Holiday and the sp just reflecting trade positions which mean little in the grand scheme for Panthera.

Sellers today at c.13 are likely to pay 15 on Tuesday, not much of a prospect imo so they have probably given up on PAT as too long a return on their money. Day traders take this as an occupational hazard in hopes they can recover losses elsewhere. I'm certainly not confident enough to do that hoping by staying pat... I can smooth out the daily ups'n downs.

A friend dragged me out to a nearby Hotel/pub for a beer at 11:00am. We were given the 3rd degree, names, addresses, trace and had we booked a table...er No...we were usherd to table 41 and given 1 hour! Eight pints later and £56 poorer we left never to return!

Must say I'm amazed at the resilience in PAT's share price these last few weeks in the face of continued selling pressure. Yesterday sells outpaced buys by c.15:1 and w-t-d by c.32:1. For an Aim stock that's pretty remarkable imo.
I can only assume the mrkt is expecting good news along the lines of mickey1122's post of 19:40 yesterday and this is supporting the price. No million volume this week but bargains dealt (24) was the best since 6th, April even if 14 of those trades were under 300 shares.

I note I bght 2500 REA at 51•08 and 1000 at 49•25 being the lowest closing price at that time. News of an ii selling out saw the stock slump from 93 the Prefs 59•75. Last years results were reported on the 7th, May.

As I no longer own any shares in REA it won't be appropriate for me to comment on the Co. However I'm told that a few investors tune in for the US closing nos, virus updates & TWTDTW, so I shall continue to post those to the end of this week.
