Some 54,013 buying interest early this morning....looking up.

Mixed to quite trading across the Far East and Pan Pacifics this morning. With no lead from the 'Street' local factors weighed on investors, especially the State of Emergency in Japan and doubts over the Olympics due to be staged in Tokyo on the 23 July. The 225 is down 112 continuing the sell off on Monday (-289) the Hang Seng is up 137 with Shanghai, Soeul and Taiwan modestly ahead.

If you follow British Bulls their new recommendation is BUY on PAT as a new bullish pattern has evolved (the sp crossed the confirmation level of 14). Good to see the 'Chartists' are in agreement with the overall market view.

Today's RNS provided a boost for the sp and volumes on the day (265,799) but no accurate buy /sells data. On the week the shares added 1•5 (15•80 the highest taken) on 418,031 traded. Gold was $23 better at $1899 as London closed.

One swallow does not a Summer make so lots to look forward to in Q3 and fully expect resource data to reflect £/EV for the Co multiples of current mrkt cap. Still out of the money here if slightly less but am in no hurry. Steady as she goes suits me fine. Mrkts are closed on Monday. Have a good long weekend all.

We seem to be stuck midway between Allenby sum of parts value of 28 (inc Bhukia) and the low of 4. Which way we go from here is anyone's guess. Up I'd warrant.

Japanese stocks surged on opening the 225 breaking above the 29000 level as a weaker Yen boosted exporters. Traders noted the drop in new jobless claims in the US to a pandemic era low. US inflation nos are due out later today. Shanghai is flat following near 3•5% gains this week. Other bourses except KL are all better towards close.

Mostly lower in Asia, TK, HK, SK & Taiwan are in the red, Shanghai slightly ahead as covid infections spike across the region. Taiwan seen as one of the safest Countries saw 1000 cases reported yesterday (South Korea 629) and Singapore has seen a covid variant enter through the airport. Schools are closing as many young Singaporeans are catching the virus for the first time.

Very quiet in Asia this morning mrkts driven by local factors in the main. The Nikkei trades 108 better, HK is up 206 and Shanghai ahead 10 after jumping 83 yesterday for a 2 day gain of c.3%.

Not much to write home about but the 'Coup' news could have started a sell off at the worst possible time. So far sensible heads prevailed so we certainly don't want any escalation of the trouble to spill over into BK. Not sure if investors have factored in the risk here as they have in the ME but if not now is the time to take the dark glasses off and 'smell the coffee'.
Investing in resource rich countries requires a whole new level of risk and one that I lost money on an oil stock in Kurdistan a couple of years ago.

Given that bad experience why am I here? Wish I could give you a simple reason, other than to turn a coin I cannot definitively give you the a,b,c of my research. Hoping it works out might not be good enough but then again it just might....

And there I was thinking for once in my life the sp doesn't go against me soon after buying! Immaculate timing as usual.. Grrrrr!

It's all black nos in the Far East & Pacifics following Fed Reserve officials calming investor nerves over inflation and money tightening by Central Banks. Japan is still restricting movement due to the 4th wave of covid infections and slow pace of inoculations.

Just had a grand top up.

Very quiet trading across Asia at the start of wk 21. The Nikkei 225 has pared early losses to trade 78 better. Traders are concerned that with 40% of the population (c.50m) under a State of Emergency economic activity will be hindered. Hong Kong is off 116 and Shanghai's main index is up 5 at lunch.
