LANDKOM INTERNATIONAL PLC
Winter audit reports crops in 'good condition'
Landkom International PLC (AIM: LKI, "Landkom" or the "Company"), the Ukrainian producer of high-value oil seed rape and wheat, has announced the results of its winter crop audit, carried out independently by the Scottish Agricultural College ("SAC"). In the autumn of 2008 the Company planted 30,950 hectares made up of Oil Seed Rape (OSR) and Winter Wheat.
The SAC audit reports that prior to the winter period, both of the crops sown were 'well established' and in line with expectations in regard to the crop's growth, health and plant population. Losses over the winter period have been minimal and well within acceptable limits with SAC reporting that the crop has emerged from winter snow cover in 'good condition with good weed control and crop health'.
The SAC report states that the crop yield potential is in line with the Company's expectations, subject to acceptable growing and harvesting conditions in the period leading up to harvest.
Richard Spinks, Landkom Chief Executive, commented:
"We are delighted with the progress of the crop coming out of the winter months. Crop damage is lower than last year's already low levels. Spring fertiliser and chemical applications are well underway and weather permitting we are looking forward to a strong harvest."
