Drilling a well is a complex business and more so with an exploration well. Many things can go wrong, and equipment can fail on the rig itself and downhole - requiring time for replacements and repairs. The estimated timescale for the well is based on estimated formations and bit choices to suit the estimated downhole conditions etc - there can be surprises and failures and some wells never reach their planned depths - so stay patient.

Tight hole conditions for a well are strict and the only people with real knowledge of the well status keep the information secret from all others - it works well in my experience.
