Also if they decide to test, then usually the test gear and crew are sent out only when needed, with non essential drill crew going to town to keep the head count down during testing.
However I don't know what is already on the Icemax and what it can accommodate.
Offshore crews usually change out every 2 weeks - but with Covid-19 quarantine rules it will be whatever works to keep the rig running.
Usually a well that is plugged and abandoned is cut off and sealed below the mudline - nothing projects above the sea bed. So an exclusion zone is unnecessary for a P/A well.

LONDON and AUSTIN, Texas, Jan. 27, 2021 /PRNewswire/ -- Blue Prism (AIM: PRSM) and Information Builders, Inc. (ibi) are partnering to offer a secure, automated solution for the fast tracking of vaccination management.
The collaboration maximizes the benefits of both intelligent automation and augmented data, giving healthcare providers the intelligence needed to make complicated decisions faster."
A safety zone is normal practice to keep fishing boats and passing traffic clear in the event of a hazard, and if they flare during a test.
We could be ahead of schedule with the well depth - but we have no way of knowing this until we are advised by BPC.
We should know by mid February assuming the well reaches TD without major setbacks, at TD electric wireline open hole logging should provide good data on productive zones, which drill stem testing would hopefully confirm. Of course if they test and the find (if any), is non commercial we should know that also by mid February. If there are downhole problems to overcome then there would be delays.
Sonofthebull: A Tanker can be easily arranged using the Incoterms spot charter form and a survey report, I have done this before for supply boats and anchor handing vessels etc.
If they get oil to surface at the well a rough viscosity can be given by the mud engineer in minutes but I think a shore lab is need for the sulphur content - but I could be wrong.
Sonofthebull: You do not know the oilfield and so you are now on Filter as non expert. I disregard uninformed comments.
Sonofthebull: You do not know the oilfield I presume.
BPC has contracts in place in the event testing is initiated they will have a specified surface equipment package and crew and a downhole equipment and supervisor etc., already under contract if needed. I have been a contracts manager and senior contracts engineer for several oil and gas operators over many years. When the company needs the service they issue a mobilisation request to the service company and the equipment and personnel are put on the supply boat and sent to the rig..
Bespoke: are you privy to the PSC agreement - because extended well tests are not that unusual? I have seen several in my experience. Of course the value of the crude would need to exceed the all in costs of the spread per day.
ABrit: I agree, and I feel if there is a commercial discovery BPC could elect to run an extended well test into a tanker to confirm the discovery and get more information. And they sell the produced oil to cover costs - if the PSC allows for this.
The sp is down but the volume today is low so I don't see a any 'rush for the exits.'
Further to BPC's recent announcements in relation to the Court process in The Bahamas, on 22 January 2021 The Honourable Justice Petra Hanna-Adderley provided her ruling on the subject of BPC being added as a primary respondent to the application brought by environmental groups against the Government of The Bahamas, seeking a judicial review of various decisions taken by the Government in relation to BPC's licences and the drilling of the Perseverance #1 well.
"In summary, the Honourable Justice Petra Hanna-Adderley has exercised her discretion to add BPC as a respondent to the application. Consequent on this, BPC is entitled to request that the applicants provide security for costs, for which purpose a hearing has been scheduled for 17 February 2021.
At the same time, the Honourable Justice Petra Hanna-Adderley provided a number of procedural rulings and guidance in relation to the judicial review application. This included establishing the dates on which the Court will hear the judicial review application, which will be 29 and 30 March 2021, with a ruling to follow at some point thereafter.
Drilling of the Perseverance #1 exploration well in The Bahamas has been underway since 20 December 2020 (consistent with previous announcements prior to Christmas 2020). The well remains on track to take 45 - 60 days from commencement to complete...."
If indications from the LWD show potential the procedure would probably be as follows: -
They condition the open hole for logging and run electric wireline logging tools - say 2 days, then run final casing or a liner - say to 2 days, then rig up surface test equipment and perforate - say 1 day, then run the drill stem tests on the lowest zone - maybe 1-2 days, then move up to the next zone and perforate and test etc. So if there are multiple test targets it will take a least a week after drilling is completed. If they see no potential maybe test the fractured zone and if no good plug and abandon the well.
Tiburn: It depends on the well design and casing depths as well as any downhole problems they have encountered so far.
If BPC has reached its main objectives and drilling deeper would risk the well then they would not drill deeper. If however the well has not been compromised and is in good shape with deeper potential and nthe ability to run a smaller casing/liner they could elect to go deeper. BPC will decide based on the situation and the risks involved.
Every time someone responds to a share bashers nonsense, they repeat the de-ramp title line rubbish - the best course of action is not to respond to their posts and put them on Filter.
De-ramping is also rife and as you never mention these paid de-rampers you post is one sided and therefore suspect for me.
Is there any news in the public domain which fuels this rise in the sp?
