Hi Extrader, his comments on the critical land usage issue that you reported earlier, make me think this is a current issue for him. It is also a critical issue for the project - one of the main/major causes of delay & cost overruns for Vale & Anglo with their Brazilian ore pipeline projects were heated, lengthy land disputes. It would make a whole lot of sense for a potential purchaser to have that issue resolved prior to making an unconditional offer (when they are not on the hook & therefore have negotiating clout) rather than pay top dollar for ZIOC and then seek to resolve all the key issues. In his speech he basically seems to be passing that hot potato to the legislators, which surprises me as I had always thought the one critical use/role Denis could play is that of 'Fixer'. (And if he cant/won't what use is he to anyone?)
To an extent this may also tally with Vet10's report of his convo with AT. I was frankly surprised that AT & MK were seemingly still heavily involved, my expectation was that at this stage this would be primarily in the hands of the lawyers. My stated hunch has always been that we (optimistically) agreed a conditional deal with a purchaser at the end of August, perhaps we/RoC are now having to meet those conditions prior to the offer going unconditional?
