The latest Investing Matters Podcast with Jean Roche, Co-Manager of Schroder UK Mid Cap Investment Trust has just been released. Listen here.
News a bit more positive , was expecting more reaction on the board .
Maybe the increase in the gold price is making him delirious , ......used to be a right hoarder .
" weeding " out some good share trading deals . Lol ........The current set of posts from graftman are nothing like his previous style of posting , wouldn't read too much into them ,apart from the fact that he's being a plonker .
Agreed much of it down to sentiment . Saw a chart this morning showing the recent drop was triggered by the Fed . rates increase , didn't help that the global economy was already slowing . As you say the low oil price should on balance actually be of benefit , certainly in this country if not others , but as you say it is controllable or as others might say subject to manipulation .
It's like sitting a MENSA test , what you on about , lol.
Seems to have vanished, lol. So to reiterate . With regards to oil producers I mean within OPEC ., ,
Agreed it's not just about production costs . The Saudis seemingly have enough financial reserves to carry this on for another 4 years but why would they , can't just be about market share and the consequences for some of the other oil producers could be significant . ....Iranian oil , drop in the ocean or the straw that broke ?
Your not the only one that doesn't understand ,.... c'mon graftman give's a clue .
Good to have you back ,hope you enjoyed the holiday ..........RBS exposure to the energy sector isn't that significant , think it amounts to under 3% last time I looked , not peanuts I grant you but not likely to be crippling . Question really is why are the Saudis insisting on maintaining production . Fair enough it's having an effect in Iran and China and the oil reserves that ISIS have will be reduced in value but the effect on US shale seems to be limited due to better extraction methods , although the number of rigs operating have reduced . Their own economy seems to be suffering and now they're having to not only borrow but sell part of their major oil and gas company which has been the backbone of their prosperity for yonks ....I'm sure they know what they're doing but I just don't get it
Half a billion , sounds about right .Difficult to tell what the Saudis are getting up to at the moment .....Making American shale production uneconomic .....Deliberately trying to damage the economies of Iran and Russia......Putting the squeeze on ISIS .....or because of the Paris accord on global warming , jut trying to get as much oil out the ground before the majority of motorists stop using it and switch to electricity. For a country whose economy is 85% dependent on oil it seems strange to keep driving the price down. Wonder what Lennymac's take on it is.
Explain , please .
Sod's law , PCs like cars , great when they're working . This may well take a bit of a blip up at the beginning of next week , don't go kicking yourself for selling too early , there's nothing yet to indicate the downtrend has finished. ATB
Sorry to hear that mate, I know you probably won't want to hear this and maybe a bit late with the reminder but that hindsight thing your talking about is called a stop loss. IMO take the profit, bird in the hand etc . .Pains me to say it but this could easily go much lower . Trend is definitely down at the moment , might be a while before it reverses
Another nasty drop, starting to look like self fulfilling prophesy . Articles like the RBS one certainly didn't help , have to admit ,given the source , that one shook me up a bit .
Fundamentals count for nought at the moment .All about fear and uncertainly .Are we at the bottom of the downtrend ? Most probably not. .....When will it recover ???? Globally , at the moment , things seem to be at a tipping point . Not as bad as some in the media are speculating but could get that way if the " bad press " continues . The gloom and doom boys are having a field day. .......300p by the results ???? Never say never ....but .
And multiple other persona.... Just been reading his Wiki page , certainly lived life to the full and was a major influence .He'll be missed .
Interesting post , ....you make some good points . Haven't had an accounts balance since the 1990s . Deficit at the moment is bad and predicted to get worse , so much for rebalancing the economy .
Decades not deades
Would be great if that could happen . British industry's been decimated over the last deades for many reasons , not just because of you know who , certainly help to rebalance the economy.
One down , one to go .......doubt it will be today !!!!!
