Not sure which buyer your meaning . There was one who left to go to Australia a few years ago but to be fair sales had been dropping off for a while before that . Maybe your going further back . Been a few years since Maggie was buying her knickers at M&S and clothing sales were at a peak. Not sure clothing ever recovered from the cancellation of contracts with British manufacturers . I can remember at the time their was a perception that the clothes coming from abroad were of inferior quality , hard to tell if that if that perception still lingers.

Couple of gaps opened up on the way down over the last week or so , fingers crossed it won't be too long before they get closed.

" All things being equal" , ......difficult to envisage this year . The world seems to be going from bad to worse at the moment with little sign of improvement in the short term . 2016 isn't shaping up too well , can't keep up with it to be honest , lol .

Thought you and I had agreed not to argue about Maggie on here ........in the spirit of christmas and giving her credit for the good things she did . She was probably great for the Scotch whisky industry . You can reach your own conclusions , lol. As for the RBS board and the lack of prosecutions , don't think there were any laws in place that could be used for prosecutions ,that applies to the banking industry as a whole . New laws have been proposed but I think the banking lobby have managed to get the proposals diluted .Strange , eh .

Sorry interrupted , ......Good question regarding the flats , stagecoach is probably right , the majority will go to buy to let investors . It's alright building new homes but if people can't afford to buy renting's about the only option . Sad to see ,just as it's sad to see great British companies being taken over but that's the globalised markets for you ,big ponds ,big fish .

Aye , saw it on the news, must be hellish . Pity we can't store it all , come in handy when we have hose pipe bans and water shortages during the summer. I'm sure the Gulf states would be grateful for it as well . Nice to see some-one else holds Thatcher in the same high esteem as I do, lol.
