Whilst I'm not invested with MRW its going to be interesting to view the auction outcome, and once decided will it generate interest in other takeovers. Could it impact SAINS. and TSCO. ? or could we see MKS come more into the limelight? These are interesting times. Hold onto your MKS shares you could be pleasantly surprised in the coming weeks/months IMHO. JJ

It was a good day for EUA on Monday, hence I was fully expecting to see the share slowly drop today but instead it appears to be gaining strength. I predict we will see 30p again this week, but as I have in effect said I don't have the foggiest where the share is going in the short term. Stay strong all EUA holders. JJ

Costa, good news. Many years ago I was aware that 'shop lifters' targeted MKS in 2 ways. People would order from the 'sl', and so obtain at a discount; and secondly the shop lifters would have the cheek to take back goods for a full refund, as MKS didn't insist on a receipt provided the item was still being sold in store. Personally in an age when we decline a receipt in part due to Covid its good to see that the bar code is able to show when, and presumably where bought. From personal experience John Lewis are not keeping up with MKS. JJ

They intend to open another 100 stores by 2023; this must impact TSCO, expect a response from the TSCO bod. Maybe TSCO could rid themselves of some sites in a cost effective manner. JJ

Tomorrow I will make my way by bike and the train to Newbury. From there I will pick up the Kennet and follow the canal path to Hungerford, Pewsey Wharf, and Honey Street cafe where I will get back on the road to an overnight in Marlborough. Monday I shall follow the canal path to Seend and on to Bradford on Avon. Then cycle back to Marlborough for another night. Tuesday heading east on the canal path, probably catching the train from Aldermaston to Twyford. Then its back on the bike to home in the Hambleden valley. The signs are there for us all to see; there may be the demand but there is a big supply problem developing. Hence plenty of talk ref to inflation. Whilst I have lost all faith in JL there is plenty to worry us with MKS. There is now excess capacity with Ocado deliveries. I stopped using because it was annoying to put in an order only to find on the day of delivery they were out of stock and were not going to supply an alternative. My experience tells me not to be too smug about my investment in MKS as it could still go wrong. Nevertheless I'm still hopeful my pessimism will be ill founded. November update is key for me. JJ
