The gloom throughout the world at large causes me to feel selfish when I consider performance of my investments and in particular MKS. However one must keep an eye on holdings, and in the case of MKS the above mentioned RNS is worthy of another read. It is clear that food sales are becoming ever more profitable i.e. selling more, and average basket size is holding up well/growing. The rest of the business continues to be reshaped with a welcome degree of success. For me at least there is a small chance that we will see a div. declared in May or assurances as to when a resumption is planned. JJ

Hi chilting, a big mistake by Sainsburys. I don't think I'm alone in liking to have a coffee when out doing a bit of shopping. The position of the cafes in the store is all important as it means customers can be forced to see what is on offer, or not depending on how well the cafes site is chosen. My experience of M&S is that the cafes are NEVER on the ground floor so you get to see some of the store offerings.

I agree with your view that the war in Ukraine should be resolved without fighting. However history has shown us that the Hitler's of this world may talk with you but they won't change their plans as they choose not to listen. NATO are trying to contain the dispute within the Ukraine but it only needs a stray missile to change all that. We have to hope that within Russia someone will decide that they will remove Mr. Putin, and are successful. China could stop Russia if they wanted to but it is clear for the moment at least that does not serve their purpose. JJ
