On the subject of Waitrose one of the stores near me has a cafe, so today I called in only to find it was closed "until further notice" but no explanation other than that. They have brought back their 'free' coffee with no minimum spend which must be in an attempt to bring in custom. Throughout 2022 I have noticed that whenever they are short of staff they close their cafes. Waitrose closed down their store in Marlow but later this week it reopens as a Lidl. The demise of the John Lewis partnership looks likely in the next 10 years if they get a grip. JJ

Chilting, I agree. I believe that we need to understand the MKS customer and their finances. I imagine that more than 50% of customers no longer have a mortgage, and/or are not experiencing any real pain from the current state of the economy. The recent update from NXT gave a fairly positive picture, and similarly SBRY, we have good reason to see light at the end of the tunnel. But still a way to go. Fingers crossed. JJ

P.S. when I moved to this house there was no central heating, we had deep snow in November when I moved in and the windows iced up on the inside. I wore thermals and a bobble hat.
