RE: Small investors taking their meagre profits today22 Dec 2022 16:21
Pat, but then he has one at 118 which he then has to buy back at some point and if the share continues to rise he will be out of pocket on that. However when he borrowed the latest chunk of shares is it at the point he borrows them that the 'short' is declared? If that latter scenario were the case then this would allow him to buy back the earlier shorted shares without the price shooting up. He then could hand back the shares borrowed at 118, but importantly never having actually sold them. No doubt someone will tell me that I'm being stupid. But can someone who knows the precise way it works please enlighten me. Best wishes. JJ
