Neil, I think your glass is half empty. I have personal experience of trying TSCO and Waitrose deliveries, Ocado is far better. Although its not ideal, as Ocado provide more delivery slots they will fill. The typical order value using Ocado will be above that of the competitors. There is a lot of good news here, you can treat yourself to a nice bottle of red. JJ

In full agreement with teaching children about finance and day to day budgeting. Whilst having dinner when my children were 9&10 I mentioned that I had been promoted, and got a good pay increase, quick as a flash my son wanted to know how much, and suggested that he and his sister might have an increase in their pocket money. They both manage money well, and my daughter after completing Uni at age 20 went on to buy her first flat 2 years later. I have often thought that in retirement that I might contact a local school to offer guidance to pupils in this subject. JJ

Chilting, I see the banks in a different way. We have moved as a society to plastic and smart phones etc. so cash has become redundant for personal and business use - the banks can deliver online, on phone, and in our own home in due course. MKS have something to offer i.e. an experience, a majority of people like to shop if they can get what they want, and also find something they didn't realise they NEEDED. MKS has scope to deliver more than a coffee and cake to shoppers, they could have a decent restaurant alongside the foodhall. Try it in the restaurant and take the similar meal home for the freezer. MKS is on a learning curve of how to use space better to improve profits. It does not have to be all about store closures. JJ

We may think that we want the bod to make decisions and to get on with implementation; however the world is changing and sometimes in business its more about being flexible, even holding back on the important decisions. Out of town shopping is set to be impacted by the online offering throughout our economy. IMO I would rather shop local where I can enjoy a coffee, pause for lunch, and wander. For me out of town shopping is soulless , easily replaced by online. We have a Director responsible for our property, let the stores be revamped, maybe trading on the ground/basement with apartments on the upper levels. The John Lewis Group are making a mess of changing their offering, lets hope our bod can see the mistakes being made by JL and avoid them. JJ
