RE: A Christmas present.28 Dec 2023 14:34
This should hopefully be a news release that gives decent tick up when is comes - if the discussions have a positive outcome.
Project Financing
Under the MOU, TCIDR will use its best commercial efforts to secure the required financing for the construction and re-development of the Amapá Project, including the necessary guarantees, project finance insurance and debt financing. In this regard, TCIDR is in discussion with SinoSure China Export & Credit Insurance Corporation and China Development Bank.
It must be a very high likelihood that Amapa will supply Chinese companies in Brazil, one that comes to mind and is already producing chassis and LFP in Brazil - the main battery site at present is Manaus 650 miles away on the Amazon'
Chassis for trucks and buses.
BYD is planning to build three production facilities on a former Ford industrial site in Brazil: one for the production of electric and hybrid cars, one for chassis for electric buses and trucks, and a third that will process lithium and iron phosphate for the international market.
To convert the site in the Camaçari industrial park in the Brazilian state of Bahia, BYD is ready to spend up to three billion Brazilian reals, the equivalent of around 570 million euros. According to Reuters, the announcement comes after the government signalled its willingness to grant BYD subsidies for the construction of a new electric car centre. Ford closed the site in 2021.
BYD’s move in Brazil does not come as a surprise. As early as November 2022, the manufacturer said it was preparing the production of electric vehicles and the processing of raw battery materials in the South American state. The Chinese manufacturer also signed a memorandum of understanding with the government of the state of Bahia at the time.
They are not alone, Brazil is going to have a big demand for iron ore supply to the EV industry.
