BMW and Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) are to join forces on developing electric car technologies.

The car giants said they would work together to develop electric motors, transmissions and power electronics.

Looking back at the development of batteries and the many claims that alternatives will be found to lithium I think we should be very positive with the pace at which lithium batteries are improving. It doesn't appear that the lithium content is increasing with NCM811 but the improvements address two of the biggest issues to EV's range and cost and we can now see the leading battery manufacturers moving towards them this year in mass.

The NCM 811 could allow manufacturers like Volkswagen to produce electric vehicles with the same competitive price as their ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) counterparts. As far as Toyota’s “when the time is right” comment goes, it would seem as though the time to launch a pure electric car is now.

What we’re seeing here is just the start of a wave of EVs that Toyota says will number at least ten by 2025

Any ideas why Ganfeng want to bring the project forward by three to six months and deploy a crew from a nearly completed Argentinian brine project and why they are excited by the Sonora project?

The so-called NCM 811 battery, which contains 80 percent nickel, 10 percent cobalt and 10 percent manganese, has a longer lifespan and allows electric vehicles to go further on a single charge, a key point of EV performance.
