If Thacker Pass doesn't get underway for LAC then there will be 30,000t shortfall in 2022, I do wonder if Ganfeng will be granted the rights to develop Nevada with the current trade issues, not forgetting Sonora funding has to be cleared by the Chinese government.

Ganfeng have a 19.9% interest in LAC with stage 1 needing $581M, they also have a stake in Argentina
62.5% LAC / 37.5% Ganfeng Lithium

Maybe Sonora will be preferred over Nevada or the project mothballed?

I've been here since mid 2014 (and have read 95% of the posts on here since then) and have never felt the need to post about; electric cars that 'may' be produced in Timbuktu, that i just looked on google earth and i'm 'fairly sure' i can make out what 'looks like' a railway track somewhere near sonora, produce a spreadsheet that 'estimates' what all the investments 'may' be worth in 3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10 years time, that one of our investments have drilled a hole somewhere in a field and there's now much more rare earth minerals then there was last time they drilled a hole a mile away.

I don't know KM but so far his track record here/car crash interviews/corporate decisions suggests he's a buffoon.

That's my two cents < punt intended.

There's a lot riding on the US getting production in place in Nevada maybe Ganfeng have a clearer picture what's achievable there.

Ganfeng isn't paying any attention to Morgan Stanley and we know Hanwa is still onboard for their offtake and so we must be hitting production above 17,500t at stage one.

Conditional on the completion of the Strategic Investment, GFL will be granted exclusive offtake rights to purchase 50% of all lithium products produced at Sonora for the life of the mine during Stage 1 planned production of Li2CO3 ("Offtake Agreement"). GFL would also have the option to increase its off-take to 75% of all lithium products during Stage 2 of production. GFL would pay market-based price for every tonne of Li2CO3 sold under the Offtake Agreement.
