Just to put his comments at the time into context:

I believe at the time Joe Lowry (Jan 2016) was casting doubt over whether production from clays was feasible, in 2017 he still had doubts and strangely enough, his opinion may have been swayed by Ganfeng and Lithium Americas Nevada project and perhaps he had an insight of their plans for Nevada clays

I think at the time people were questioning why he hadn't researched Bacanora and visited the site to see the pilot plant that was producing, so in 2016 when he said five years Peter Secker was aiming for production in 2019 and so his views at the time were perceived as unnecessarily negative.

So we don't know if he had Sonora in mind with those comments back in 2016 but if he was then he was putting the project back two years from what the company were planning.

Now Thacker Pass is owned 100% by LAC with Ganfeng having supported them technically so for Ganfeng to look at Sonora is at least intriguing?

Now his get out of jail is that it's now being classified as soft rock, although if the deputy chairman of Ganfeng wants to call it clay then to me it's clay.

You have to wonder what the end users demands are from their suppliers and how many competing projects have tested compounds over three years plus at high standards?

Stable supply of a consistent quality product, as much as I admire Elon Musk he did play down the supply of lithium suggesting it was just 'the salt on the salad' and now he has hinted at becoming a battery materials miner and the production of the Tesla EV's is at the mercy of battery supplies that must resonate throughout the car industry.

BCN is ahead of the game as a proven quality source of lithium and crunch time is coming – IMVHO

Well through my rose-tinted glasses I would suggest Sonora might become Ganfeng's largest producing lithium play and sooner than anyone would have imagined with them looking to bring production forward.

Mr Wang Xiaoshen, the Deputy Chairman of GFL, commented: "Our proposed investment in Bacanora Lithium and the Sonora Lithium Project would form a cornerstone in Ganfeng's growth strategy to become the world's largest lithium producer. Specifically, the Sonora deposit is large and scalable, with low operating costs. We look forward to working closely with the Bacanora team to realise Sonora's potential and bring into production the world's first lithium clay project."

I do hope the news when it comes elaborates on the planned production volumes, we will soon find out.

I would read the full article and pay attention to his comments on Ganfeng, I have mentioned before has the Thacker Pass been sidestepped for Sonora!

Could add significant production to Stage one if so, just my thoughts nothing to base an investment on.

I'm all for projects that supply end products, you can talk about the lithium in brines, clays, soft rocks or hard rocks but the end product needs to be battery grade and we must have a big advantage with Sonora and Cinovec.

Back in a tick, going to fill up with diesel because of the Iran situation before it goes up another penny as we all know what happens when there's a hint of short supply.
