What is really crazy for two reasons is the idea of Starmer and Macron agreeing to use troops in Ukraine. It directly puts in the firing line. But worse, the rest of the European leaders are making no contribution. At Brexit they all insulted and patronised us and as soon as things get hot, they come running to us wanting our help. Europe has always been a millstone around our neck

2. An attempt by management to finance a move to privatise MKS: this would be so easily achievable, especially with Blackrock holding 8% and a proven team in place and a great brand name. Just my thoughts. Like JJ I am in for the possibly longer haul. I think the latter more likely.

There is one tip sheet suggesting that peace in Ukraine will negatively impact the SP. You wonder what sorts of brains these people have. It is 100% obvious that between Trump and Putin, Ukraine will never have lasting peace. It's as if suddenly Putin and his gangster regime are going become a peace-loving democracy. At last, Europe understands it cannot trust Trump or Putin and is rapidly looking to pour money into defence, whether some stitched-up peace deal comes about or not. RR is supported by three excellent legs, of which the defence one looks especially relevant, peace deal or not

Sadly oldsid is correct. Putin may agree to something and then claim Ukraine has broken the agreement. He has been probing Trump for months and knows that the US won't stand in his way. Trump's claims he will walk away from NATO are BS. He knows that one day he will have to confront China. In that scenario, he will need NATO support so he dare not walk away. Europe's problem is whether we want to have our hand forced and have to join the US in confronting China. Me? I prefer not when we have Russia close to home

Oh my god....my dear friend Fender has become a hippy!I guessed this would happen. I was going to get your views on a few defence stocks but I suppose you don't touch these now. I was actually thinking that there is a huge amount of excellent intelligence on this board, and I include you, Fender. It would be interesting to see how a fund comprising stocks that members follow would perform against fund managers.
