RE: An interesting idea19 Jan 2026 08:56
As I said, it cuts both ways as I have tried to explain to you with seemingly no success. The US makes billions from trade with Europe and that rather nullifies its claim that its investment in NATO is all one way. The US taxpayer benefits immeasurably from US companies' highly profitable trade with Europe. Think of the vast fees generated by GS, JPM, Wells Fargo, Citibank, Bank of America and I have not even got around to the accountancy/ Hedge/PE firms. The US has successfully plundered Europe for decades. I make no criticism: I merely point out that the billions spent by the US on NATO is counterbalanced by the vast profits garnered commercially. NATO has 32 members, all of whom are at the beck and call of the US. If China starts to create issues for the US then it has NATO it can call upon. The big question is whether we want to entangled in a fight with China. My perspective? Not all. The US needs to stop whining and think that it gets a bargain
