The latest Investing Matters Podcast with Jean Roche, Co-Manager of Schroder UK Mid Cap Investment Trust has just been released. Listen here.
It is the share from hell? It is because we all constantly look at the share price day to day and see the price falling. The board are looking to achieve shareholder value but I don’t believe any of them are bothered about what the share price is each day. The perceived value of the company and the actual value are very different . The share price is where it is because that is what the market says the the share price should be. Supply and demand dictates the price. If there were more demand for the shares they would be higher but there isn’t. Do the board care - not a jot - I run a business and don’t care what the value is each day but I am still focused on building shareholder value albeit this isn’t reflected daily, weekly or monthly. It is longer term. The boards focus is to run and grow the business. It is us Pis that want the news so we can make short term money not theirs. Just my Friday afternoon view. IIs will generally buy and hold for 2-3 year and don’t care terribly about the weekly / daily price
Nowucit- it is strange although delayed but for 1m from this afternoon showing for 1.70 which will be the reason for the rise at close. That’s 3.5m of buys in last 3 days - either trac buying or someone else with s fair bit of confidence. Either way Someone has the confidence to take a modest stake in comparative terms to to MC of the busienss
Agree - i think they are waiting the release some positive news but this may come with more disappointing output figures for the month. Monthly updates are not mandatory and by not releasing poorer or stronger figures is not a breach of AIM rules
What are PCCs reserves compared to ours though ?
Glad there in a better place - I’m 20% poorer
How do we know they are in a closed period?
It may be an incorrect feed from the stock exchange to your broker yesterday. I noticed on my Pension platform account today (values updated daily) that the price was showing 77p (closing price on Monday) and not yesterday’s closing price of 109p Tonight it was showing today’s closing price of 108p Maybe this is the reason
Should be worth more than 20p but don’t think anyone would give any premium on “oil yet to find” unless we have an exceptional drilling success record and outstanding management. The value will be based on any discoveries and booked reserves.
Totally agree jointhedots Question is have we a puddle, a pond or a lake in the T Sand- the bigger the resource the great the SP restate in my opinion. Will be interesting to see the monthly output figs for the month
Don’t think we will ever know if Rex has cleared since no requirement to disclose under 3%
Thanks seaside 53 - I maybe misinterpreted the previous poster message - he said a few more wells “come on stream” , rather than the drill a few more wells and hope to hit the black stuff
What new wells are coming on line soon? You say 2/3 but we have only drilled 1 in a year and our target objective came up as dust. Have I missed something ?
Not going to take 12 months to do the commercial sampling.. If they like what they have in the sample they May take a larger sample over our whole area which could take up to 12 months . Question is are they going to update us as things progress or is the the only announcement / update they are giving us until 2019. If it is, this will drift
Rum safe to operate without US licence Announced at 6pm tonight https://www.spglobal.com/platts/en/market-insights/latest-news/natural-gas/092618-uks-rhum-gas-field-can-continue-to-operate-without-us-license-bp
Betfair- totally - if the smelter acquisition isn’t going ahead in the next 12 months let’s get our 500k back - that’s 10% of our market cap. All will be revealing and I wouldn’t be surprised if confirmation or otherwise of commercial samples comes as an RNS. However, they have been “actively engaged” with this potential off take partner for a year and thisnl is the first We here about it ! Nothing surprises me with this co !
Total agree why would an a potential offtake partner want “to undertake a long-term test of a significantly larger sample, taken across the licence holdings “ What is the relevance of taking it across the whole licence area? Maybe they are looking to acquire and this could be part of their due diligence process. Would link in to the smelter currently not a core objective? May be speculation but my own view
