GL with your investments
I’m keeping the faith, AA won’t be twiddling his thumbs and he isn’t afraid to put his money where his mouth is. Not too many other Chairmen I can say the same for
I’ve still got confidence he will find the deals to turn this SP north
I’m assuming the drop is due AAs interview yesterday where he said the uncertainty surrounding the North Sea meant he had pulled out of several deals
As said hopefully he’s considering buybacks, atm £60M purchase doubles the SP. Pretty sure that’s not feasible but no doubt AA looking at the options
Its not been a pleasant 12 months
Does anyone actually think the Government, Labour or otherwise, may actually show some relief on the tax front? Its clearly crippling the smaller caps atm. Destroying investment in the North Sea, and that does nothing for our energy security
All the rhetoric from them ref BP and Shell profts etc, but this tax barely effects them.
A dividend and/or buyback would be very good for 2024
I know many don’t like buybacks but when you only have a small share pot it would have a decent impact. Doesn’t seem that long ago everyone moaned how low AAs share incentive scheme was priced at, £4.45 ? Oh for the SP to get back there again, he must be spinning some plates in the background I doubt he’ll be sitting idle
Maybe the government will take pity on the smaller cap O&G companies and reduce the theft tax, but with Labour on its way that seems very unlikely.
Unfortunately NS assets being mothballed is exactly what the UK government want to encourage, that is the message being sent loud and clear. Considering most of Europe want to have domestic energy security which will also help control domestic bills, it’s a peculiar angle to take. Net zero is pie in the sky, yes we can take steps but we are no where near advanced enough to reach that level, unless we palm our entire energy supply off abroad. A very dangerous move as events over last 12 months have proved
Let’s hope this attitude is a brief pandering, surely common sense has to prevail
