Aggreko is providing generating capacity to the Olympics in London this summer, and also provided power for the inauguration of President Obama, the football World Cup in South Africa, and the Glastonbury music festival.
In a deal worth £162 million over 2 years, Aggreko has signed power purchase deals with South African power utility Eskom and Mozambique's Electricidade de Mocambique (EDM) to supply electricity from the third quarter of this year until July 2014. Eskom will buy 92 MW and EDM 15 MW.
A new contract to provide 75 MW to the Japanese utility company Hokkaido Electric Power Company (HEPCO) was also secured in the first half year.
A strategy of expanding the company's footprint in fast-growing markets is delivering strong growth. Within the first half, revenue is expected to grow by 13%. Within Europe and the Middle East, business is expected to grow by around 9%, North America by around 11% and Aggreko International's Local business by about 25%.
Aggreko opened new locations in Cape Town and Nairobi as well as completing the acquisition of Poit Energia in Brazil, a leading provider of temporary power solutions in South America.
Diversity of both customer type and geographical location is enjoyed.
