Crazy really. I managed a small top up at 946p. Only a couple of pence above the 52 day intra-day high, without risk of the YPF cases being a loss. Hopefully the US sees the value here

This is my largest position by some margin. I think Burford answered all points raised by MW and showed he was poorly researched and that it was really an attempt at market manipulation. He was possibly right about the CEOs wife being CFO, that has since been amended. Regarding the accounting, my understanding is that the SEC actually want cases marking up to represent likely final value as currently represented in accounts mainly at cost which is too conservative and doesn't give an accurate representation as to their assets worth. This is the opposite to what MW proposed should happen. Do I think it's over? I'd hope so, and think Burford have realistically done all they could to address the critique (if that is what it can be called). However due to the SEC stance on accounting it can't be ruled out that another chancer in the future won't play the same trick and attempt to sow fear and diminish confidence in the value of assets held. Due to the specialist nature of the assets and the required confidentiality we must place a lot of trust in the management. Such a situation is easy pickings for a short attack.

You decide. Burford compiled an extensive rebuttal and made amends to their governance structure. Google the rebuttal and decide for yourself. Research what the SEC are requesting of Burford's accounting and see how that aligns with MW's critique. Again you decide. I know what my conclusions were.

My reading of the piece was that the author thought that Burford were competent, in the right and generally using standard industry practice, but later forced to implement a non standard provision once Sysco had breached the initial agreement to remedy the effects of Sysco's breach.

I honestly thought it was the fairest and most informative piece, certainly of what I've read to date, on the matter by some margin.

I can't imagine they'll find a better yield elsewhere. Pretty sure NF said millions of shares had passed thier lock-in period and that non had been sold, that there wasn't an appetite to sell from employees. DYOR

I for one wasn't expecting today's drop. I actually thought we may have been up 20% on open. How wrong could I be. I don't get it as if what the SEC want should actually increase the value of the balance sheet. Crazy times. Unfortunately, I didn't have funds to take advantage of the drop. Thier situation is dire, but without payment of any judgement they will find international US dollar denominated trade increadibly difficult, if not impossible and critical assets would likely be seized. A concern I have had for a while is whether US politics would interfere with the judgement. Argentina leaders paid a visit to Russia just before the invasion of Ukraine and as the video states China is attempting to ingratiate themselves. I expect both would be viewed as threats to the US interest but then so is allowing a nation to fraudulently market a company, raise capital on thier exchange and then steal it back without any recourse for those made bankrupt. Its a very difficult situation and why perhaps any settlement for the case isn't priced into Burford's SP IMO.
