Cineplex case is even weaker than I thought. I thought the counter claim was usual tit for tat but on the basis of the openings we may have a chance. I'm topping up in the morning as this case is getting buried.

Cinemas are all up more than cineworld on basis of positive outlook on theatrical windows and covid. It's all down to cineworld turning sentiment into cash.

I am finding these opening statements surprisingly enjoyable. I hope too many don't stay in waching this rather than going to Bond once it is here...
Googling Cineplex's lawyer it looks like he was defended Nortel Canada in a case against UK pensions for 3billion canadian where it looks like Uk pensions came out on top. Hopefully some correlation with this case in the value, locations and ultimately outcome.

Doubt it is linked to the case as Cineplex is up as well. Probably US opening and the Disney announcement sinking in.

Don’t know much about Canadian legal system but I somehow imagine its similar to British system given similar cultures and liberal views. Something reassuring about it all being broadcast but I think I would need a few million invested or a lot of time on my hands to tempt me to watch all that. Thanks for sharing though.

Number - I'd be happy to finidh in the green on a day we kick off a big litigation case. News of the litigation will be more directly linked to CINE than general positive industry news but I'm expecting a positive reaction as the direction of the case starts to filter out. The more positive outlook in the industry will hopefully give a bounce more weight and a bit of a safety net for a less favourable outcome (Hopefully unlikley).

I'm no expert, but as I understand it there was a max debt allowance in the contract for the purchase which wasn't exceeded, but that Cineworld are claiming Cineplex were deferring payments to avoid showing the real debt position. Cineplex's defence is everyone was doing it because of covid. Sounds to me like Cineworld have the stronger position but claiming for the full purchase value is fantasy anyway and the real cost of loosing would be much less. This a fair summary?

Agreed matstar - "Cineworld included $244.2 million in its last annual report, which it said represented the amount payable to a group of Regal's former stakeholders who had challenged whether they received a fair market price for their shares."

Clearly Debt is greatest risk here but as has been pointed out most debt is down to Regal purchase so always part of the gearing plan. Forecasting profit next year with significant revenues and surely more incentive to push revenue and drive efficiency. My gut says no more lockdowns US and UK and that cinema has a bright future as goods and travel come in for further bashing by environmentalists. Bought more CINE this morning making this my biggest holding so I’m hoping my gut is right. This is one of those shares that I see as long term but can’t resist checking numerous times a day. Fingers crossed…

JG68 - Agree - whilst there are clear links to potential pandemic affects on travel/leisure, it could also be argued that there are opposing forces. If you don't go to Spain or Disney Land are you not likely to hit the cinema?

Mr Stu. If you check back a day or two you will find a link to someones analysis of the case. Bottom line was it will take ages and likely be settled OOC for much less than £2B. Its basically in neither’s interest to try and settle in the current climate.

I believe Cinema has a future and that if Covid doesn’t cause any significant closures in UK or US that Cineworld will be able to start servicing its debt. It has been more heavily hit than others as it was heavily leveraged going into this period, but who saw covid coming and they invested in Regal as they saw value which can still be realised. We need some time as much as a few decent movies IMO.

We certainly aren't suffering from any hype inflation here. I like sleepers that have a bit of potential so I hold a few here. I haven't done much research, but I've noted others comments and think it feels like a decent mid term punt.

AMC up 7% on NYSE. Come on CINE...

Agreed. CINE is becoming very predictable. I've averaged down to below 60p on these small peaks and troughs. Fingers crossed...
