What are the chances?29 Jan 2026 15:59
To change the subject of monn-talk, rocket ships, bar brawls, and the like...
With Trump's talk US vs Iran in the headlines, oil prices will continue to rise. If any other company wants to make a play for Wood and benefit from any Wood oil-related contracts in the near future, such a play needs to happen over the 1-4 weeks. It is unlikely to happen given Wood shareholders have voted in favour of the Wood-Sidara deal, and is pending court approval. However, there is a slim chance another white knight may charge in with a cheeky offer of 40p and match Sidara's cash injection. The changes were probably 1%, however, that was before the tensions increasing between US and Iran. Occasionally world events can influence/change the course of takeovers, which at one time seemd 'in the bag'. We are very near that point now. For the record, I do not think it will happen, but wouldn't it be fab if it did happen?! Stranger things have happened before when it comes to takeovers. Will another buyer turn up over the next 4 weeks, and snatch victory from the jaws of defeat?!
