I guess it does but there was a lot of blood spilt to get to where they are now, I just hope diplomacy and talking resolves it mate.
I’m sure they are Mick, at least we can discuss with objectivity q.v. freedom of speech!
He’s got our leaders on the back foot …and created a good buying opportunity with JRS…15pp quarter….as long as the tanks don’t start rolling in which case we’re all doomed with contagion or whatever they call it lol
I think he got away with Crimea but Ukraine itself apart from the eastern bits would be hard to holder to hold than invade because unlike Crimea they’re going to fight a guerilla war and the risk of escalation isn’t worth thinking about. When Tito pegged it all the old issues blew up for example not to mention what triggered WW1.
I hope he is more canny than reckless and I’m curious how Trump would have handled this one because for someone who’s got a lot to say for himself in or out of power he’s been strangely quiet on this one?
Good catch up by the way
I think he’s a canny operator and the western leaders hate the freedom he has to do stuff because of the system/lack of accountability. Russia’s always had a ‘strong man’, the Czars and what followed with Lenin,Stalin…what’s the difference to the population. Their system is totally beyond our Ken because we have accountability….it’s unthinkable that any autocratic leader there or wherever would be openly critiqued for breaking lockdown rules etc because no one would dare say or write anything!
They have to keep an eye on stuff because if they didn’t they wouldn’t be ‘keeping us safe from security threats’. Fact is we have more free speech and tolerance than most people give us credit for. Protestors etc normally get shot, beaten up,imprisoned etc abroad imo
Hi nom, not in recent times!
I’d like to think he’s posturing rather than actually intending to invade but time will tell. Maybe he wants a legacy of recreating Empire from the previous Soviet Union now the coffers are full with the oil prices or maybe he wants to make sure it never becomes a NATO member or maybe something we don’t know about because we’re not there. Hitler was motivated to regain territory lost after WW1 amongst other things but I don’t think Putin is that deranged because apart from all the obvious death and misery associated with war, it’s expensive.
There’s definately different versions of free speech out there! I always think ‘speakers corner’ in Hyde Park is about as close you get to it and that lot would knout you without any fears of human rights lawyers claiming abuses or litigation for sure!
I think Putin wants to draw a red line on further NATO expansion and doesn’t like being told what he can or can’t do in his own hinterland much like the Yanks didn’t like missiles in Cuba.
Perhaps the headmaster needs to call Putin and Biden into his office and have a serious chat lol.
Very interesting difference in bias watching RT and our news outlets on this one. Hard to believe we could have real war in the first world but I do think we as in the west are guilty of winding them up whilst they’re currently flexing their muscles within their own borders?
Hope you and the gang doing okay?
The way I see it is the sector of oil services if share prices are anything to go by are somewhat lagging the recovery in oil prices and boom in gas prices, capex and maintenance will return because the tools always need sharpening so to speak. Irritating as it is sitting at these prices, the likes of wood group, hunting etc etc are hardly up there either!
Hydrogen seems to have gone a bit quiet but it’s good to know we’re on that one in some capacity too. GLA
Hi Sain, certainly feels like the sentiment tide turning negative and the disconnect between the latest tv advert and reality getting wider!!

Evening all, a few factors pushing oil up….how things change! Any thoughts on metal prices, poly, fxpo drops caught in the Ukraine/Russia etc activities troj?
Hi fundamentalanalysis, we don’t like those kind of letters! I don’t entirely agree with him as there’s often a game-changer lurking and I’ve kept a token holding but I certainly wouldn’t bet the house on it lol
I know the name but as an ‘info’ didn’t take too much notice of the corporate shenanigans!
Must be something simmering away as volume and trade quantities are way higher than they have been for ages. GLA
Hi Bananaman, slow and steady plus we should get a dividend declaration in the next week or so!!

There’s lots of examples of how industry peers have recovered, wood group seemed to struggle after the Amec foster wheeler take out then covid knocks it from 4-6 quid to 2 and lower at the nadir, lamprell I remember being 10p and recovered, hunting similar to wood on prices . Don’t really follow others but Bp looked expensive at two quid not so long ago and then 3 quid was a pivot, now 4 on the horizon(hopefully lol), shell below 20 a bargain and then 8 quid, now 17/18. All related in my mind to the fact we’re a recovery share that hasn’t yet recovered without the other stuff….I hope I’m not wrong as I’ve gone in quite heavy and even added after Liontrust bottled last week but I’d put that down to them seeing investment elsewhere which suits their mantra better rather than seeing this as negative, their money is their investor’s money, ours is ours and we all see positives for different reasons!
Travel a precarious business these days but I’m sure it’ll sort itself out. I remember during the first lockdown how strange it was there being no planes in the sky and how strange it was seeing one up there again!
