this is great price to top up..... this will give you yield of around 10 % , i will however be more greedy and wait for 179 and then top up if not reached i will run with what i got (my buy price 191 and already picked up 2 dividends) For everybody who doubt in TW in this difficult times i got Warren buffet hamburger analogy... If you plan to eat hamburgers throughout your life and are not a cattle producer, should you wish for higher or lower prices for beef? Likewise, if you are going to buy a car from time to time but are not an auto manufacturer, should you prefer higher or lower car prices? These questions, of course, answer themselves. But now for the final exam: If you expect to be a net saver during the next five years, should you hope for a higher or lower stock market during that period? Many investors get this one wrong. Even though they are going to be net buyers of stocks for many years to come, they are elated when stock prices rise and depressed when they fall. In effect, they rejoice because prices have risen for the "hamburgers" they will soon be buying. This reaction makes no sense. Only those who will be sellers of equities in the near future should be happy at seeing stocks rise. Prospective purchasers should much prefer sinking prices. GOOD LUCK ALL
thanks Firth, i will now monitor them , also printed their half year results and will study to see how much debt, cash they have, when was the last placing , i think if the price will drop to single figures i might enter as well
i was looking at see al that time when they were for 5p and never bought it..... now i regret it as i would more than double my money, what other stocks you got firth?, i will stick to Distil, as their results are very good and long term share will go higher.
current PE of 84 ....... expensive ... Any opinions?
philbatch , to time the market is nearly impossible , best thing is to drip feed ..... i bought my 1 tranche at 202.6 , next top up 190, or i will sell what i got at 240....either way i will be happy....
interesting to see different strategy's for entry, i am with TW for 1 year so i think i could be called mid to long term investor.I only top up within week after exdivi date (just looking for top up today )this strategy nearly always give you low price to buy(apart from 2.44 divi when strangely sp was rising...)
just popped in to my local asda and in to rum section to check price of red leg, currently on for 16 and completely out of stock, they awaiting more stock to come.....this either mean good sales figures or problems with supply
Just came back from Majorca last night... As i was driving thru Majorca couple days ago i saw two big TW apartments being build on outskirts of Cala Dor, really nice lactation but building in early stage as the crane was still there. Before Taylor Wimpey was just a name share price and balance sheet to me, but it was nice to see them in action..... Still holding my shares and waiting for mid 180 to top up..... good luck to all shareholders
wow 267%..... the numbers speak for themselves , would not mind join you on this system , please let me know when you decide to make another purchase i might coat tail you:)
thanks Nigel, so may i ask you what builders you currently own?, i was thinking to just buy TW every 3 or 4 months, as i try to cut cost on trading,, i am looking for company that i could just park my money as i save , looking back on my selling strategy i have concluded that i am not patient enough and a lot of profit is lost
decided that i will go for divi and buing more after ex divi date... off to majorca tomorrow will not have access to internet for week so looking forward to check sp on 31.5 when i return if the sp drop below 191 i will be topping up good luck all what ever decision you make
thanks tom
Hi guys i am new to investing, so always reading this TW forum ,interesting conversation regarding ISA, I have ISA with IG and i am aware of 20 k per year tax free (intend to put TW in there once i am in that position) but question i have is to do with dividend received from this account, Lets say i will have 20 k of TW in ISA , do i then have to pay tax on divi and if yes what is the tax free limit on receiving dividend, hope this make sense, thanks in advance
i believe so , special divi is not included , look in dividenddata and go to yields , choose TW and press little arrow on the right it will give you proper yield....
very strange drop at the beginning of the day with 6 days before divi day
thanks nigel , my buy price 191... my holding is not big,i would get 5 % return now but that 10p divi is just to tempting.... i am thinking of maybe not selling taking divi and top up after sp drop on 31/5 sorry not very experienced investor what is float system?,and second question -base value of 163 per share is that what book value of TW is according to you?
simple question chaps , selling prior 31/05 or going for divi? i am going for divi
agree bamps, i also liked his post , just opened my eyes of how much divi they will pay, they are cash rich so divi cut not going to happen, i will be topping up on dips, ex divi date in 11 days....
another way to imagine is you buy tw for 2 if the sp goes down to 1 you still not down but at break even point,, now do you think tw will trade at 1 in 5 years time? no way
still waiting for my divi!!! IG is the worst with time keeping...
