@ TheMoneyShark.
I had to get something wrong, so it may have well been the dividends.
What would you call modest? The last time a half year divi was paid out, was it about 6p? So, let's say 2p this time. Would you agree? So, your original investment at 5 quid (ish) has yielded you about 0.4%. Well done. I'm glad to see that you're p*ssing your panties with excitement. Plus the share price is 50% down on your original investment. You do realise that you can now get 5% interest, with easy access, from most banks, don't you?
Anyway. I think the divi is a good thing going forward. And i'm pleased for the majority.
Regarding the sickness agenda, that you and others keep banging on about. The new sickness policy kicked in at the beginning of October. Any liabilities for deductions will be taken in January 2024, and on rolling basis. I think the maximum is 50 quid per week. How this stacks up on a weekly / monthly basis is anyones guess. I actually think it's a good thing. People do take the p*ss. But in all industries not just RM. You'll be pleased to know that i have an exemplary sick record, so this will not affect me.
@ TheMoneyShark.
Just because i say that management are useless, does not mean that i hate them. Why do you continually make things up to suit your pathetic narrative.
I spend my evenings here??? Says the William Shakespeare of the IDS board. You live here, as did your predecessor.
If nobody posted on this board, you wouldn't have a life.
I bet you cannot wait for the results tomorrow. It will give you plenty of people to engage with.
Parcels down, letters down, losses up, recruitment up. Management agreed 5% pay increase (circa 5K per year), and their bonuses in place for next year, regardless of whether or not targets are hit. No dividends for the foreseeable future. That's my take on things.
I'm off out now to see my friends for a drink. I know that you won't be able to understand the "friends" thing.
@ TheMoneyShark.
On the contrary, i love my job, i like the company. And i'm never miserable with my working life. I may disagree with many, many things RM, but i accept that i have a start and finish time, and i have to accept what the management expect me to do within those hours.
It really is not my fault that the company is run by incompetent people. From the very top to the very bottom.
But, at least i'm getting paid. Not that i need the money.
Happy days.
More job cuts??
Yes please. That will make my job even more secure.
I'm just gutted that there are 4 new starters in my office.
@ TheMoneyShark.
""""Royal Mail can still be profitable with or without a USO, it would just be significantly better to have a changed USO. I’m a very happy owner of GLS thanks very much.""""
Says the man (woman) with a 5 quid average. How much more profitable would IDS be without a USO?
I'm all ears TheMoneyShark. I'll bet you say "i don't know".
@ TheMoneyShark.
What part of the USO do you not understand?
It doesn't actually matter what anyone thinks, other than the Government and OFCOM.
So your pathetic 3 brain cells quip, could not be pointless!
Read before you post!
The only fact in this thread, is that you know absolutely F.A about the USO and it's implementation.
Sorry. 2 facts. You know F.A about investing too. Unless pretending to be good at it counts.
@ TheMoneyShark.
Of course i read it.
The difference between you and i, is i work in delivery, and i can see why there are failures. Whether or not you believe me, is up to you.
You don't work for RM. As you mentioned earlier. So WTF would you know about failures?
And as for your buying prowess? Several (dozens, actually) crying with laughter emojis.
@ TheMoneyShark.
You only hold a handful. And that sweet spot as you call it, is 5 quid. Nobody believes your BS mate!
FWIW, the USO isn't worth the paper it's written on. The incompetent white collar workers just cannot do what they are meant to be doing. That, in part, is why it's failing.
I fully agree it should be amended, so that the customers ""may"" actually get what they are paying for. But as and when it does, the useless cretins who run the show, will still be failing.
Shocking management!
Brain damaged???
Very classy!
""""And given that my track record of applying basic common sense has worked very well for me here,"""
LMFAO!!!!
Says the man (woman) who bought in at nearly 5 quid a share. And was still championing it at over a fiver.
Nice to see that the abusive side remains TheMoneyShark.
Going back to the USO. It's in place, end of. And it will still be in place in 10 years. So, despite the fact that RM, CWU and OFCOM are all singing from the same hymn sheet, nothing has changed at all.
@ Maximas1. I work hard all the time, for myself, not for the shareholders.
I see you have 1 recommendation. I hope it's not for the yacht comment.

@ Oli G.
""“Over the last 12 weeks, we have recruited around 6,000 postmen and women and are continuing to recruit c.500 permanent positions a week in delivery. """
So, RM get rid of 10,000 blue collar workers across all spheres of the business, then recruit 6,000 + 500 per week in delivery. Us posties clearly do not have enough time to do the job.
We have had one new starter "in my office", with a further two starting soon. Wednesday to Sunday. We have also had 2 full timers leave. The recruitment is done externally now, so the COMs get given what is deemed to be acceptable. 1 person in their early sixties and 2 in their mid fifties. I hope that they can adjust to what may be called, a physically demanding job. Time will tell.
Regarding crimbo. At my local MC there are normally large marquis' erected about now. Nothing at the moment, i hear. Could this be because of Daventry? Or maybe the volumes just aren't there?
I'll keep everyone updated on all fronts.
@ CityWatcher.
Your letter takes second preference to a packet/parcel.
We do have have the staff, although we are not fully staffed. And never have been.
The reason your signed for letter did not arrive as expected, is purely down to bad management. Manage your staff accordingly and everything falls into place. Assuming, of course, it got into the relevant places on time.
@ Oli G
@ Hurtsparrow
Regarding reporting of failures, as you have both mentioned.
If incorrect reporting is discovered, then the managers would be suspended and then sacked. I've seen it happen.
However, if the office is clear at the time of reporting (all frames clear), then the bonus is achievable. Having said that, i don't think any sensible (???????) manager would risk asking staff to take mail out and then bring it back, to achieve clear office policy. They wouldn't be that stupid, would they???
@ Broch.
I agree. It doesn't make any sense. But you've worked in delivery offices, so i'm sure you can work it out.
Sceptical? As far as i'm concerned, nobody will get any weekly bonus unless the office is fully staffed, minimal sickness, loans and light duties. And then you have to have the overtime hitters, willing to pick up the work that others cannot do within their hours. Just so that everyone can get the bonus. It is not going to happen. IMO.
The incentive scheme (bribe) is 50 quid per week for the next 10 weeks if the office is clear. I understand that the COM has to report if the office is clear daily, and this would trigger a weekly payment if offices were clear every day. We've already failed. 1 week down, 9 weeks to go.
Strangely enough, my manage said to me that we had no chance of clearing. He/she didn't even have a meeting to tell evryone about it.
@ Oli G.
The 3,000 figure that we have both quoted, may or may not include the Ryde staff and rehiring of the current agency staff. We have been told that there will be no dedicated parcel routes this year. So, why the extra hiring?
And regarding volumes, as mentioned by TheMoneyShark: The amount of amazon parcels we are currently receiving exceeeds the normal. Nothing excessive, but if this growth continues, then there could be a problem.
The problems in the past year may just come back to bite RM in the bottom. Good will, and all that, is pretty much out of the window.
But it still nice to see that there is plenty of cash around, to fund all the crimbo pressure.
I have a feeling that the upcoming results will be better than expected.
Word reaches me that RM will pay an extra £500 bonus per person (pro rata),for a clear office policy over the crimbo period. This is unit led, not nationally, and will be on top of the £200 crimbo bonus.
Assisting us to achieve this will be "the helping hands". 3,000 extra staff taken on over this period. I'm not sure if this includes the recent agency staff, that have been released, and subsequently re-hired. Or the recently appointed Ryde staff.
RM will also be paying excess for anyone going past their finishing times. They seem to have a lot of spare cash swilling around in the coffers, nowadays.
Nice try RM. But guess who doesn't give a sh*t about the 500 quid and will not be going over?
@ The Money Shark.
I was highlighting the 21 GRAND PER YEAR increase in pay in less than 2 years, and the effect on divis.
21 grand per year increase in pay, for what exactly?
They ain't doing anything different. But you wouldn't know that, would you?
So the shareholders, you, not me, are paying for what?
@ Oli G.
Apparently we are having no hire vehicles or dedicated parcel routes "in my office" for crimbo this year. That's a first in over 30 years.
Overtime is going to the order of the day. I hope that i'm not asked "to go the extra mile", because it won't be happening. It will be interesting to see if we are instructed to deliver parcels first. I don't think that that will go down well.
And on my favourite subject, managers pay increases. Word reaches me that a new structure wil soon be in place. Less than 2 years ago we had a DOM and a line manager. These roles were removed and replaced with COMs, where if you had 2 or more, the roles and pay were equal. Pay increases were in the region of 12K per year. Now, the role of a senior manager (the old DOM status) within a D.O is being reprised. With an added pay increase of between 2K and 6K per year. So with their annual pay rise, a top earning manager could be on about 58K per year. About a 21K pay rise in less than 2 years.
And people here wonder why there is no dividend.
@ eatstocks.
I've no idea what you mean. A cooker????
Please explain, because i've clearly missed something.
