I've no idea where you live Nutmeg, but it's clearly not in the UK, or at any rate near a UK airport.

I live 10 miles from Gatwick (one of Easyjet's main UK hubs) and plane after plane after plane takes off every day. Round here, most people use them like Ubers - a quick, cheap way to go and find some sun, snow, hiking, stag/hen weekend etc.

Hopefully Van Eck will be buying lots of shares soon.

It's called 'London Gatwick' which always make us laugh here in rural Sussex, because the airport's over 30 miles from London!

Anyway, it's only 10 mins by train from some major towns in Sussex and Surrey, so plenty of customers as well as London ones (and hotels for those who come from further afield).

Easyjet flies from the main UK cities, such as Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham etc.

I live near Gatwick and have several pilot friends, working for different companies, so I know the various business models and how business is going.

And yes, I do use Easyjet more than I should, given our concerns about the climate. I mainly see middle aged people on the flights I use. And they're packed.

I've just read the article. It talks of people possibly not taking 2nd and 3rd holidays! One airline owner says that people are more likely to "go for that weekend away, rather than buy a new tv."

If you try to book a hotel in many European cities for a city break, there's a shortage of rooms. Even the uni kids now go for flights rather than inter-railing.

This is a very different market to people who are sadly living on the breadline.

I have to laugh at Todd's idea that 'better off people' don't use Easyjet. I wonder what salary he would regard as his cut off point, as I know plenty of people on very good salaries who are happy with the company. The delays this summer were caused by a shortage of baggage handlers, not EZJ itself.

Looking through his posts, he has targeted other airlines, NEX and CINE, because his game is shorting.

There are spelling mistakes in most of his posts, so he might not be American, just poor at English!
