The Deputy Minister also mentioned that, in the context of Timor-Leste's progress in the ASEAN integration process, the Government continues to make efforts to strengthen economic integration through reforms in trade facilitation, modernization of the customs system, and development of the digital economy, noting that cooperation with international partners such as China can support the implementation of these initiatives.
During the meeting, priority areas for strengthening future cooperation between Timor-Leste and China were presented, particularly in the fields of trade and investment, infrastructure development, digital transformation, adaptation to climate change, and institutional capacity building.
The meeting was attended by representatives from Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines - ASEAN Eastern Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA), the Belt and Road Initiative Research Institute of Tsinghua University, the Hong Kong International Finance Corporation, the International Daily, the Sanya Institute for Public Diplomacy Research and the Zheng He International Cooperation Organisation.
