The good news is gold and silver are safe havens in a market crash.

Albeit - the miners will be caught up to some degree in the crash as money and liquidity leave the markets. However in time money will look for a better home than thr pound or the dollar and gold an silver (and the miners) should catch a bid…

Are we watching a full market crash?

Well many were predicting it….. this attack on Iran and the impact on oil and gas would be challenging at the best of times however the markets were never healthy to start with:

- the AI bubble

- loans defaults rising (credit issues meaning affordability and liquidity issues)

- Japanese carry trade ended due to high yields (reduced money for markets, less liquidity)

- Chinese leaders advising/instructing positions in American markets sold

- I’m sure there are other factors I’m forgetting

Closing the straits, the resulting energy shock is not the straw that breaks the camels back with the markets, it’s the 10 ton lead weight that the camel couldn’t cope with to start with.

So yes - I expect a market crash. The S&P already broke below resistance having out in a rounded top.

I asked AI to calc the % oil leveraged and got told 80%.

I wouldn’t blindly trust AI but it did return a similar value to your calcs, Londoner

David, it just makes no sense to import oil and gas from elsewhere.

It makes no sense to pay £40k to send immigrants home (you’ll just get even more risking the trip to get the £40k)

It makes no sense to think you can win a war with Iran without ground troops. And even then - you won’t win it

It makes no sense to try and take Greenland for your own and pitch yourself against NATO members.

It seems that very little in the world makes sense these days.

Can we not have people running countries that are slightly capable? Is it too much to ask???……

Markets are nervous, cash is being pulled from the markets and there is less liquidity than a few months ago - I mean we all expected money to rotate from the markets with the Iran war and gold is normally the safe haven but gold and silver are not rocketing (yet).

Capital is rotating into the pound and dollar - for now. Maybe some money is also rotating to oil and gas….

and so this is why ORR has a great RNS and the SP says ‘meh’.

Just hold or buy more and wait (if you can), ORR is in an even better place today than last week. Yes it might take a few months but gold will heat up again and by then ORR will have move forward. Again.

I agree BBN on everything you say there. In addition I do think Iran want to lay a punch that deters the US from ever coming back and attacking them.

Whether that’s militarily or whether that is closing the straits of Hormuz long enough to hurt the American people at the gas pumps, or even sink the US economy (which is already in bad shape)…. Time will tell.

As you say - it’s trying to understand the disruption and risk and so as to place your money accordingly. HEX clearly are at a point of inflection as production has started. The war becomes an additional factor for the reasons discussed many times on here regarding helium supply...

Secondly… the one small nagging question I have is that Trump has a small attention span, also as soon as the markets get pounded he chickens out.

He is only interested in a short quick win to boost his ego and (he thinks) his ratings. Thats makes me think he will back out soon. However there are 2 issues

- will Israel be happy packing up and quitting? When Iran will continue to hit them?!…

- are Iran happy to stop?? Or will they want to hurt the US after what has happened?..

So if I work off how I think Trump operates then will this war be over soon … but I am struggling with that. He may want it to be over but it’s not maybe that easy to shout to the world ‘I win’ and then walk away.

I mean, let’s face it - that’s how he will work the end ‘I’ve won, and I am the best at winning. I’ve never won so big before’. Then hewill go for Cuba so he can win again and stroke his massive ego. Again.

Sorry that turned into a Trump rant - point is I just can’t tell how quickly this war will end. It is not only Trump that decides it’s over. There is also Iran and Israel….

You just think one day there will be a film about Trump. And not the film he thinks there should be.
