A lot of talk on here about what the SP may or may not get back to. Although it will in fact reach a 'number', I don't think the past is much of a guide to PFC's future.
We have new leadership, a more cost focused business and a move into 'clean' energy, a whole new second market for PFC as well as keeping a presence in oil and gas. Yesterday OPEC stated oil will be big until 2045. Well they would say that, but it will at least be big until 2035 and then some. Oil still has many uses other than powering your car.
So, hoping PFC share price gets back to 400 or even 700 may come to be seen as a low ball ambition. PFC may get bigger than it was before. Maybe we should be thinking of a SP potentially up to £30 in the next 5 years. Some on here saying maybe it would be good if someone bid 300 for PFC. No that would be a cheap sell off, a disaster. Give it a couple of years and potentially PFC could be the one acquiring new 'clean energy' businesses. I would believe that the new CEO and Board have bigger ambitions than simply just seeing PFC out of the SFO situation.
In short, holding this stock for a long time might prove to be very very profitable and today's prices will come to look like a free giveaway.

On the charts there are no barriers between 200 to 400. Hopefully, this week will see us to 200. Then additional positive news will drive us to 400 in the not too distant future.

Where do you get £400k from? I never said I paid 200 a share. Halve that figure, which shows I am already well into the green and going to be making a lot more. :-)

I have 200000 shares in this and have had a squeaky bum all year. This is the start of a sustained reversal. I am not selling, certainly not under 400.

Do not panic sell. Do not be happy to make a few quid. If everyone holds the price goes up faster.

As for fine. It will be a fine for a failing of due diligence. Won't be high. I recall a couple of years ago that a fine expectation of large proportions was baked into the price.

And look at all the good things that can happen now which will affect SP, Order book, Buy out bids, dividends, margin growth, etc.

After all that's happened, you'd be a bloody fool to sell now. Wait!!!

Slift, this has been on my mind too. Not a lot of news re order book. The half year results are delayed and I wonder if PFC is delaying them for a reason. The Lufkin outcome and progress with SFO, big order to big confirmed, etc.

The SP has been pretty static these last few weeks so no overall pressure either way.

Basically, keep figures crossed time.

Yesterday Schroders also increased their shares in John Wood Group; to above 5%, to a total of 37.1m shares.

Q: So why are schroders increasing their stake substantially is two oil (energy) services businesses? I can come up with 3 ideas,

i) They simply think both Co's are under-valued and hence a good investment / safe place to park some cash.
ii) They see the diversification into non fossil energy infrastructure at early stage conversion and want to get in on what they see as a long term investment.
iii) They sniff a bid. I was looking at Schroders yesterday and they do tend to invest in potential takeover targets. Given the size of their stakes in PFC and WG it could be seen that they think potentially WG might bid for PFC, especially once the SFO is concluded. They, WG, would never get another chance at these prices for such a large scale addition.

Furthermore, Schroders additions dwarf short positions in these companies. Schroders play here is not the work of one analyst; there has to be group think on these.

Very interesting re Schroders. Why would they up their overall share from c10% to over 16%. That's an additional 20m shares taking them to 57.4m shares. Nearly as high as the Asfari family. Irrespective of their motive, to buy another 20m shares then they must think that the current price is at the very bottom end of expectations.

On the contrary you appear to have a great deal of time for pfc. What is your problem with pfc exactly? You sound like a very disgruntled ex employee??

Would be great if it did refer to PFC. Could be the "Parent Company" bit was put in their so that the two companies couldn't be identified; to stop speculation. Is there a 'Parent Company' being investigated by the SFO under the Bribery Act for the behaviour of it's subsidiaries?

SP of PFC seems to have two pressures on it at present. Firstly, it is simply following the market is you compare to oil shares and WG. Secondly, I think even though the Bears are pretty much done with this, what we are also seeing is former Bulls giving up on this and selling up.

It does make me wonder what PFC HO are up to. Awfully quiet! I do hope that after the Sept Lufkin sentencing (or whatever it is now) PFC take the gloves off with SFO.

Bad news is 10 a penny with PFC, would love to see some really major good news. Lord knows it's about time.

I think you'll find a Fine is and has been for a long time baked into the price. Which is one reason why it is so low. However, to agree with your point, any and all negative news does seem to impact it again.

Tend to agree with Katsu on this one. I don't think 6 directors all decided to buy the same random, and I must say low, number of shares as 4378. Looking at the overall share holding of some of these directors, they cannot be said to be seriously invested in the business. I don't think this news signifies anything of worth.

Amazingly for the second day running, the buys are 2 x the sells, yet the price is falling. Wasn't buying demand meant to push the price up.

Hi, That's not what I took out of this. It is more concerned with the legal competition and judicial limitations on the SFO. Especially the point that compared to the US the SFO has one hand tied behind it's back when dealing with cooperating witnesses. This would certainly speed up cases in the UK if resolved.
The story did highlight to me that the SFO may now be simply ensuring that PFC has nothing else to answer by rounding off some quick investigations in other countries. After all, they would only find a few more 'middle men'.

Given my investment history going back many years; I have a 100% gold plated sure fire way of making you all rich. Wantt to know what I can do for you ? Pay attention, here it is.
I sell all my all my PFC holding this afternoon and then tomorrow, the SFO investigation is concluded, PFC gets a new £2Bn contract, Dividends are re-instated, there is a Takeover rumour and all the Shorters get out. As a result the SP rises 300% by the end of day. And, over the next 6 months rises to £20.
Alternatively, I don't sell my holding today and FA happens for the rest of the year.
What should I do next???

Well you can become an Evangelist or you can buy PFC! Although your faith gets tested more with PFC.

When are we going to get some ground breaking good news. Let's face it, this trading update simply put a positive spin on nothing plus hope. If the future was bright then we would shortly be expecting 3 or more of the following 5 things;

1. BOD loading up on their own shares if they are such good value. They are not now in a closed period.
2. Talk of a takeover if the share price (Mkt Cap) really was cheap.
3. Shorts down to Zero as no prospect of further SP falls.
4. The SFO about to close.
5. Massive new contract in the pipeline.

To say we are in this for the long haul is putting it bloody politely. But I do keep my ire for the SFO. What they have done to this company with their snail pace investigation is appalling. It's like the police burning down the entire town to smoke out an alleged shoplifter.

I would not in any way link the outcome of the Serco case to the potential outcome of the PFC case. The PFC case can still go pear shaped. Although Lufkin has pleaded guilty there is the Mention Hearing on the 21st June. Who asked for this?? I don't think SFO would have asked for this if they already had a guilty plea in the bag so it might have been Lufkin's defence lawyers, possibly wanting to mention mitigating circumstances?? Or some other unknown reason. We should hope that those mitigating circumstances don't expose anyone or anything else in PFC otherwise all bets for a close this year are off. If it is clean cut then it would be put forward for sentencing. I don't know how long that would take; but that would not, or should not, have any impact on the SFO's decision to continue with or close the case. In these circumstances, I can't see any reason why they would not close.

Well, out of interest; the Shorts have fallen to 4.07%. The last time they were at this level was in November 2019 and the share price was 400. Good to see the Shorts still decreasing though, sign of a belief that the SP really isn't going to crash and in the medium to long term the SP is a lot more likely to go up.
We've had all the negative news there is to have and the new CEO has had his chance at the clean sweep and throwing out the kitchen sink and all. The news is going to be brighter and bring sudden and sizeable price surges. SFO ending, new orders, dividend, etc.

The last time the 'Shorts' were at 1.72% or less was three and a half years ago in Nov' 2017. The share price then was 800.

Just saying. But looking good!!
