Share prices always drop by the amount of div being paid out, as that cash is being taken out of the company. sometimes it carries on down, other times it spurs investment so closes up on the day despite the div.
Yup, its difficult not to sell the tranches that were bought in the 50s and 60s for a profit in case it plummets again, but thats whats offsetting the avg against those bought in the 200s and 230s.
Been a lth here for years, but as is generally the case with MCG, this will drift down again most likely unless sale news is literally in 3-4 weeks time.
