Tend to agree, there could be an argument that GDR should have had this in place some time ago! That's not how it works though, I worked at a software plc for years, and we were a plc and did business with banks for years till there was a proper QMS put in place, and the various ISO standards started to be gained. They open doors to larger clients, in USA esp and others, where there are scores to be had for decent quality management, when bidding in response to a Request for Proposal.

From ISO.org: ISO 13485 specifies requirements for a quality management system where an organization needs to demonstrate its ability to provide medical devices and related services that consistently meet customer and applicable regulatory requirements.

So basically in among all the other stuff they are doing, they are getting quality marked too. This helps with sales, some purchasers insist or are at the least reassured that vendors have quality standards in mind.
