LemonTree - thanks for your post, but I feel you are too focussed on absolutely worst-case scenarios. The fact is that the Russians are making a desperate last push for the strategic high ground (Potrovsk and CY) before winter sets in and the US presidential elections are held.

The way will then be open - in the NY - to negotiations. With a bit of compromise on both sides - and a Ukrainian acceptance of the realities on the ground - a ceasefire and a settlement (perhaps long-lasting??) can be found.

But I agree that investors need a very strong nerve ! Buffett - "be brave when others are wary!"

I think the project will be discussed in China but not signed. There will be much more fanfare before any signing for political prestige

I reckon that once Putin captures Pokrovsk and Chasiv Yar then he will call for negotations. The whole tempo of the conflict will then change as the debate, in Ukraine and beyond, focuses not on "winning" the war (which will then be unmistakably absurd) - but accepting the "loss" of the east - whatever "loss" actually means (for example, what guarantees of the rights of Ukrainian people there will there be?)

I'll believe it when it happens. Knowing this company, there will be more delays as the lawyers raise questions.
