benefits from Spreadbetting are commission rates , capital gains , and capital tie-up. No one is suggesting your trading is a problem , far from it ,if yours are done thro' ISAs then tax issues are probably minimal (don't know for sure) . Spreadbetting only has the spread to consider when going long or short , which can save an enormous amount of money over traditional broker " buy "commission + " sell "commission + stamp duty. But even better , with Spreadbetting you can buy an sell thousands of shares with only minimal amounts of cash on deposit in the account. as it only requires a "deposit" and "margin".whereas you would have to have tens of thousands of pounds in a traditional broker account as you are actually buying the Shares in question.!!------I have three Spreadbetting accounts (to give flexibility ) and three main traditional broker accounts (again for flexibility) ---I find i tend to leave my long term holders in traditional accounts , esp. high div. stocks etc and play around in the spreadbets for easy in and out shorter term trades. It's each to his/her own , but give spreadbetting a go --it can add another dimension to trading for you + you can "short" or "hedge " shares if you wish --i short trade and see nothing wrong in that , others think it's the Devils tool and i should be burnt in the Hell -fires!! Again ,i say, each to his own . GL in all your trades ,whichever method you use.
