Looks like the patent was granted on 2nd April so if SAR thought it noteworthy then surely they'd have issued an RNS on Monday or Tuesday?

Phoned up Halifax at 8am and got straight through to do a bed & ISA. Spread was a mile wide (imagine!) so have left it with them to do the transaction once the spread is lower.

I just need to remind myself that whatever I lose in the deal will be peanuts compared to the gains we all make in the coming year or so.

Yup, not knowing when news might land does mean you have two choices - rather like ripping off a plaster, do the transfer asap and leave it all to fate or wait a few days to see how the sp settles in the new tax year.

Hi Krone - True, 737 news might appear but I do wonder if Sierra will dose patients in the US, triggering our milestone payments, or if they'll 'box clever' and run trials outside the US. I think I'm right in saying 737 trials so far have been run in UK & Spain - if the Sierra bean counters have any say in things then why wouldn't they look at ways to avoid milestone payments?

I hope my point of view isn't seen as negative, we just have to look at things from the current license holder's point of view and that would be to minimise spend while maximise returns. For clarity, I hope I'm wrong!!

Hi ndr50 - I quite agree and look forward to the increase in sp this next stage of development will bring. I wonder if we might start to see formal offers of licensing/partnerships once the CTA is cleared - late summer/autumn might get quite exciting here!

Hi Crogy - the reporting algorithm on LSE won't have anything to do with the price the MMs decide, or at least it shouldn't!

As for the algorithm reporting buys as sells - let's say the ask is 150 and the bid is 140. If your transaction is at 145, how does the algorithm know if it's a buy or a sell (assuming it's based just on the trade's sp)?

Clearly I don't know who wrote the code but I'd guess it's fairly rudimentary with limited access to all the system flags, therefore we should just concentrate on whether our own transactions are beneficial to our financial wellbeing or not!

Hi Aber - nothing suspicious. It just depends on personal circumstances/strategies. Some transfer funds at the end of the year, some at the start.

Crogy - It might be an idea to change to another outfit. I'm with the Halifax and and it's just a case of phoning up and asking to carry out a bed & ISA. Depending on the spread at the time they might pass it to a colleague to 'make a market' for your transaction and then when you check your account a few hours later, you see the details i.e. prices/numbers of shares. You can only do this type of transaction over the phone and they charge you £25.

Hope the sp remains low for next week in order to maximise the number of shares we can get into our ISAs!

Hang on, the brain is slowly lurching into action - I think it's to do with the repurchase being at below the mid-price therefore the reporting algorithm reads it as another sell....or something....um....

Hi Aber - the sell & buy elements of a Bed & ISA transaction both get recorded as sells. I read the reason for this ages ago but can't recall the specifics. If I come across it again, I'll post the details.

Not so much a case of having your cake and eating it, more a case of if life gives you lemons, squirt lemon juice right back in life's eyes!

We're so close to the new tax year we might as well take advantage of the low sp to move the maximum number of shares across into an ISA. Plus if your regular share account is under water (and mine is!) you can hopefully use the 'temporary loss' when doing a bed & ISA transfer to your future advantage - any realised losses can be offset against potential future CGT bills depending on your situation.

I understand what you're saying but with regards to 'vibrant publicity', I wonder if the SAR mindset is simply let's get the product into trials and then at that point start making some real noise about it. I'm sure many on this forum have been in work presentations where the speaker is entertaining yet tells you nothing and in other presentations where the speaker is clearly sharp as a tack but not too confident in front of large crowds.

They've presented their wares at various pharma trade shows therefore the people who should know about SAR will already be aware of our pipeline.

Yes, I'm disappointed with the sp but I'd rather be invested in introverted genius than the smoke and mirrors of a shyster.

If WIP is reading this, I wonder if he could confirm where pharma companies get their news/gossip from e.g. a monthly magazine or whatever.

Seawolf - the patent can't be extended for the reason you suggest. However once the 20yrs is almost up, what SAR (or whoever owns the patent by then) could do is submit a new or amended patent for a tweaked version of 737.
