Morning Mafuta, plus molecules have a 'handedness' in that they can be classed as left or right handed. Get the handedness wrong and a molecule won't bind to the intended site but it could have other useful properties.

Hi Zylo - thanks for the heads up on the agreement. I'm sure if there's an RNS then it will clarify who gets what as shareholders need to know if they aren't getting 100% of any future value.

Hi WIP, I think I'm right in saying that although there are other people named on the application, the application is from Sareum therefore it's Sareum that will wholly benefit from it.

The reason I take this point of view is I used to work with a woman whose husband is an electrical design engineer. He had a number of inventions to his name but the patents were all owned by the company he worked for. In our case, the molecule engineers were effectively employed by us to come up with a solution to our problem - they get paid by us and a name-check on the application but it is our patent, not theirs. A bit like the project lead on a team winning a Nobel Prize - they might not have been the one to make the winning discovery but they called the shots so get their name in lights.

Evening Steady, I wasn't thinking specifically of Merck/GSK but recall a number of posts here citing drugs failures over the last month or so.

So GSK's Walmsley is going to COP26? I can't imagine what she's going to do there; maybe give attendees advice on what lipstick colour goes with the death of a planet. As it's in Glasgow I might nip through and give her a corporate wedgie. That's where you shove a global patent application up their fundament and shout 'GRANTED!!' in their earhole (alas, that wasn't a typo).

Hi Steady, I can see things falling into two camps.

The first has those buyers within large pharma looking at the recent failures within the industry where huge deals have come to nothing and compounds have failed. With zillions down the drain they may be more hesitant and want to see results of Phase I trials before getting the cheque book out. With their patents expiring in a few years they still have a little time on their side before they have to commit. (I've not looked into what stages any of the failed drugs were at when they were snapped up so the above is clearly idle speculation on my part.)

The second camp is the more interesting one from our perspective. As time goes on we only become more expensive. Global patents. The IP targeting of the burning house itself rather than the house next door. A BoD with a track record of success within the large pharma world. Strong interest from HNW types. Compounds that could become the next penicillin. If I were a buyer for large pharma I might have FOMO and recommend Sareum are snapped up for pence rather than pounds in 12mths time.

The BoD currently hold all the cards and we have to trust them to do what is best. A complete buy-out allows us all to walk off into the sunset together whereas licensing may be more lucrative in the long run.

Either way, I've never wanted to be a fly on the wall in any meeting room more than I do now.

Barnowl - if you're a genuine investor then I apologise however your question effectively boiled down to 'what happens if demand outstrips supply?' This struck me as either being astonishingly naïve or the sort of thing a troll may ask to disrupt a board - we've seen many examples of a person's first post being 'innocent' and then they descend into tactics aimed at damaging sentiment and the sp, hence my spiky reply.

Even without an RNS on Monday, if demand is very high then the sp may scoot up pretty quick. How high? No idea.

Just catching up on last evening's posts and read the terrible news - hope you both make a full recovery.

Steady - right, yes, I now get what you're saying re the difference between allowing a patent and granting a patent - the devil's in the details.

Whatever happens from here on in, we have so much in our trickbag that it would be quite improbable for everything to fail. We see on a near-daily basis the billions that large pharma have available for deals so it's only a matter of time until formal offers are made to SAR.

Thinking back to the earlier posts re BioEurope, the fact that 1801/2 could be effective against multiple indications, what if a handful of the companies at BioEurope each announce tie-ins with SAR, each for a specific area? Game, set and match to SAR!

Wishful thinking, but why not?
