Morski, I like your calculation as helps answer some of my question.

I do however have one query I wonder if anyone can answer please.

If your original direct line shares were purchased by you at say £3.50, so selling them today would be classed as a loss and no CGT to pay.

If you wait for the offer when they give you the money and shares would you then pay CGT and if so on the current £2.75 total price or just the cash. (Using Morski's calculations as this goes over the CGT allowance)

I am not sure also that the original £3.50 price paid would be considered by the tax person, hence I feel a CGT would be paid by me??

Hi, did anyone hear anything in the Budget today about any change to these rates please

I cant find anything but thought there was a one liner about it going up to 20% for basic rate band etc

I hope my ears were hearing things!!!

Tax on dividends in the UK is as follows1:

0% on the first £500 of dividend income (the dividend allowance)

8.75% on dividends within the basic rate band (£12,571 to £50,270)

33.75% on dividends within the higher rate band (£50,271 to £150,000)

39.35% on dividends above the additional rate threshold (over £150,000)
