And also the reporting of major interests in shares is wide open to abuse. What's the the limit, what's the time frame. I've seen it abused many a time.

Are you saying that not one person is taking a short position on any share, I'm not talking about massive shorts holding the price down, JB has managed that on his own. Take a short spreadbet on newsflow gap and talk it down, buy back in and ride it up. I am not saying that they can effect the sp but it's not illegal so why not.

I wasn't suggesting that there is a sustained shorting attack which has demolished the share price, the sp is where it is due to AEX itself. I'm just saying it is not unfeasible that people play the market both ways, and wouldn't it make sense to talk your position either way. There is money involved and we all know what that brings out in people.

Spread betting gives you the opportunity to take a bet on the direction in which a particular share price is headed. If you open a short spread bet position, your profit is dependent on the prices going down, giving you the same outcome as a traditional short selling position.

I've never wanted to short any company, more fool me perhaps, but has no one ever shorted AEX ever in the history of AEX? And if they did wouldn't it make sense to talk down the share, I'm not an expert but why does nobody ever admit it, I know it's not illegal so why such coyness.

Where did the humour go?? Too much sniping, point scoring and pointless BB arguing.

I agree these things are usually very Londoncentric so a bit unfair on expecting many pi's to turn up but there was also the presentation evening a few days later which was another opportunity for shareholders to vent their disappointment, given even more time to digest, at the perceived terrible deal.

Not a very nice atmosphere on this board recently.

I would assume anyone short on any share would talk that share down if they were so inclined, is shorting such a heinous approach that no one would ever admit it, stoop so low or just no shorters at all.
