As I said earlier QRT have massive amounts of info, algorithams, and spend vast amounts of time researching a share before shorting. QRT have put £150m into CCL, and move the short regularly - about 30 times a month, and as they are recorded on a daily end of day basis, there are probably many many more during each day. Shorters focus on just a very limited number of companies, and with many staff "attached" to a company, plus their AI etc means they really know more about a company than most analysts. Thus fund mgrs take account of short positions in their decision making.

I would love the chance for just one hour to look at the CCL software and end of day print out in QRT London office, but dream on dream on.

Bhants, QRT will leave this share alone when it can no longer profit from the saw tooth pattern of share movement. My guess is 2 maybe 3 years when it possibly levels off around £18 possibly£20.

If you are a LTS you ignore this movement, and if you are a risk taker you may also have a go yourself, I generally am a LTS as I think you really need the IT power to be successful.

Shorters concentrate on shares with saw tooth patterns, and those companies, that their inhouse algorithams , indicate a potential fall. The act of shorting often adds to the likely fall.

Qube Research and Technologies have CCL on their "radar" with around 30 differing positions per month. They use extremely complex AI modelling regularly upgraded by highly skilled IT specialists. Clear indication they see CCL at present as a "saw toothed" share"

So a continued share movement is certain, and when QRT move away from CCL then we can expect some degree of stability in the share price.

Thank you all for your info and advice, so my wife will book the cruise she has picked, seems from your experience best use the apps, outside of share dealing with 3 screens and level 2 , I really am out of touch with the latest IT systems.

Good to see move up, but as I said in a post some time ago strong believer in this returning to minimum £20, at which point decision will be needed to hold or sell, look forward to that day.

I am not a regular cruiser, and really only started in the late 1970,s when you could swop a BA flight ticket home to cruise home on the original QE 2. - did this a few times gave me 6days free holiday.

Since then have only been on a few cruises, Cunard, P&O, Norwegian, Seabourn, Saga principally to judge for myself investment probability.

Have not been on P&O for some years now, but wife has seen a cruise she wants to go on, but a friend who has just returned from a P&0 cruise said too many things needed an app to make a booking, restaurants, theatre, trips etc - is this correct?

I spend too much time now on screens, so last thing I want to do is use apps on a holiday.

Was invested in Sage, but a cruise with them was really poor, so on return sold out, by chance just in time, would be 27% down but for that poor cruise.

The fundamentals are unchanged (unless some one knows different) people all over the world still want to cruise, today is possibly a small market correction or fund managers taking profit.

I remain confident in this business to the extent I bought a further 1500 today- 3 blocks of 500, overall average £12.63, they join my original holding, and I now intend to forget them, and will finally sell the lot when they hit £18.00, expect withing the next year at most.

We should get an indication of financiers confidence in CCL on take up of $1bn loan, which if fully taken CCL "may" raise $500m subject to market conditions.

If both are successful it will give more confidence in the future of CCL and I would expect to see some increase in share price .

Have been watching this for some time now and the share movement has been somewhat erratic. Seems to me to be heading nowhere, and the organisation is in a bad way,

Staff shortages, lack of training, lack of HQ organisation, and management whom seem out of touch.

Had a problem with new car battery, which exposed the failure of the Halfords organisation, from the retail store from whom I bought the battery, to the complete lack of structure to handle complaints at head office, so for me this was the signal to remove it from my "watch list" sorry but HFD has a good business model managed extremely badly.

Until the USA cancer claims are finalised one way or the other his share is going nowhere.

I think it may well be institutions taking profit. I am sitting on a 30% profit (bought mid last year) and had considered taking some profit now, but will wait and see what happens tomorrow. The company is still positive (last results) thus I will wait a day or two yet.

The past CEO and much of the board just did not understand the business, thus problem after problem last 3 years.
They sold the Milking machine business, a real cash cow, not appreciating that it was that business that provided the cash for the Protective developments, much as it had been doing for the last 10 years, also kept the city reasonably content as cash was not a problem.

Now the Protection business is truly stand alone, with much development still ahead and production always some time ahead also. meaning city is concerned about where is the cash coming from to continue with all the developments constantly required by the DOD and MOD .

The board were also stupid enough to buy for cash upfront, (using proceeds from the dairy business sale) the armour business, and not a single director had the nous to put in place some performance covenants.

So we have a new CEO, but the same old board, so my expectations for the future rest purely on the real possibility of a US take over! History tells me this present Board will fail again, and it may well be that the dividend may cease due to lack of cash, another price crash!!

I know this business well, been following Avon for many many years, and can only see a future under new owner ship.

evanescent -- maybe coincidence, but I cannot see the present board driving this forward in any meaningful way, I am just holding on now and waiting for a buyer, only chance to cover losses now.
Entire board a waste of time, allowed the sale of the "cash cow" Dairy Business" that had supported the NBC development for years, then blew the proceeds in cash on the unproven armour business with no proof that it would provide protection, and worse no performance related provisions, where the hell were the other board members, probably just content to pick up their fees and "not rock the boat"-

Perhaps one day the americans will wake up to the fact that a uk company has "stolen" their NBC protection business!!! - I look for a take over at around £20 - £25 just wish I could do the deal for this lame board.

The $1bn cash raise is no real surprise at this point, all cruise companies not making profit, but this is changing as the industry gets going again. CCL also have said" the nine brands entire fleets will be fully operational by year end", so I believe should be moving into positive cash flow.

The $1bn is being raised by convertible senior bonds maturing 1/12/2027 with interest being paid at 5.75% on 1st June and 1st December each year, first payment 1/06/2023.
The interest rate is about as expected at this time, so no surprise.

People want to get cruising again so I will wait until tomorrows budget, see if it offers any better investment opportunities, if not more will go into CCL.

Having listened it make clear to me that the CEO is strong on outlining the problems and weak on offering solutions . The new CFO speaks well and did offer some positive views on going forward, and he does have a background in the defence business, which neither the CFO or Chairman have, so perhaps the only positive from a very poor day.

Relief the CEO is going, Chairman needs to do the same. He has sat by and watched disaster after disaster and done nothing, so we may well find the new CEO he appoints is just another disaster.

I am afraid the CEO got carried away with some early success, then started to over reach and we are now where we are. How the hell did the CEO get agreement to spend probably around £75000/100000 putting AVON PROTECTION on the back of Bath rugby shirts, the US DOD officials & Generals never used to watch English rugby, !! Most people think it is an advert for condoms, it shows the action of a CEO over reaching and not understanding his business.
Chairman please let The idiot go as fast as you can get a new CEO, then go yourself.

I have been successfully trading shares for almost 50 years now, and do a reasonable amount of research prior to investing, in the case of Saga not enough.
Holding Saga for some time now, and at a loss, so seeing the insurance business was doing OK decided to take a cruise, been on many other cruise lines.
What a disaster, not only worst cruise ever, but worst holiday ever. Talked to many other guests, those new to Saga almost all said "never again" those more regular to Saga cruises said worst ever, food poor, entertainment poor, management of Covid poor leading to some 200 or so (from 750) catching Covid (including my wife and I).

It took 3 weeks to get any form of response from my complaint, then really told to "look at the small print" of which there were dozens of pages (never had so much paper for a holiday) told they are not giving any one compensation - look at the small print. This was despite having many last minute to set programme changes, 3 days before we left and others while on board, and being locked in cabins for days (Covid), and twice got no dinner at all!

So the view I now have is the direction and management of the cruise division have lost control, they are not capable of running a cruise line, and for me the best thing they can do is sell the business to Carnival.

I will hold my shares for the present in hope they recover just enough to "wipe my nose" and put the £16000 holiday down t a very bad experience.

The last year or so has shown the board of directors to have lost control, Chairman has to make whole sale changes, before forced to by major share holders.

Too many basic errors that indicate directors do not understand how to run a business, to buy a company for upfront cash, with no proven technology, no "subject to" clauses, showed lack of the financial world (Armour business- now this latest bombshell.
